New Year's Day, 2014! Wow, another year has just flown by! We are going to spend this beautiful day out on our quads geocaching with Earl and Allison. So at 10:00, with our lunch, water and snacks packed, we were off.

We headed southwest and were soon "zeroing in" on some geocaches.  The first six caches we found happened to have been hidden by Bob and Sue (who weren't with us today because they had decided to go out and place more geocaches). Very clever micro-geocaches. This one on the end of a branch was shoved into a hole in the tree...

This one was placed inside a dead Cholla Cactus...

This was a regular-sized geocache called Crested Saguaro...an easy find...

And we're off into the mountains...

Another geocache find...

Wrong way to the next find so we had to turn around...

It's up and over this way...

Steve...can you take our picture?

Dianne is logging the find while Earl and Allison inspect the goodies inside the ammo box...

Earl is placing (hiding) a geocache here...he will then send the co-ordinates to geocaching.com to have it approved and added...

Earl and Allison on the left while I'm just ahead of them...

Up we go to another geocache...

It's down here somewhere...
Found it!

Nice view from up here...

There is a geocache hidden in this old underground dynamite storage bunker but we found it last year...

Up and over that next ridge...

Down we go towards Deer Run Resort for lunch...

Can you see us in the centre of the picture?

Parking lot for the Deer-Run Resort...note the sign...

We don't know what used to be here but it makes for an interesting stop with all of the paraphernalia everyone has left behind. Allison, Earl and Dianne...

It's also the only shady spot on our route...

Another find...

Another tricky geocache find...we're getting wise to your hiding spots Bob!

We arrived back home just before 5:30...almost 7 1/2 hours out on the quads and 32 geocache finds! What a great day with beautiful views! But we were all pooped! We put our stuff away and headed right over to Earl and Allison's to enjoy a cocktail with them as the sun went down...the end to a perfect day and the first day of the new year!
