We arranged with Earl and Allison last night that we would leave at 8:30. However, we ran out of propane last night, so Steve needed to make a quick run into the RV Pit Stop to fill the tanks...he was there when they opened at 8:00 and was back home at 8:15...perfect!
We arrived at The Helmet Center in Peoria around 11:00. They have a great selection of helmets and accessories...and the fellow is very knowledgeable. Earl, I think you should get those goggles!
Allison and I trying on helmets...
It was after noon by the time Allison, Steve and I had picked out our new helmets...Earl's didn't need replacing yet. Here is a picture of them that I took later on, once we were home. Mine has butterflies and purple flowers while Steve's is flat black. Allison's is the same as mine except her flowers are pink...pretty cool!
After our helmet shopping, it was time for lunch. We went to a great buffet-style restaurant called Sweet Tomatoes. "A serve-yourself, all-you-can-eat dining experience featuring the freshest vegetables, salads, made-from-scratch soups and muffins, hot pastas and more!" All at a very reasonable cost...$8.99/person and on top of that, we received a 10% senior's discount...nice!
What would a trip into the "big city" be without a stop at Cabellas? So after lunch that's where we headed. Once there, we all separated, agreeing to meet back at the entrance in 35 minutes. Steve took pictures of the animal displays....I'm always impressed every time I see them...
After a stop at Costco, we were back on Interstate-10 heading west to Quartzsite. It was about 5:30 when we got home...a great day! And we finally have our new helmets!!
