This is a really cool house along the highway...the upper decks of a Sternwheeler....The Nasookin....
The beach...taken as we drove over the "orange" bridge...
Baker Street seemed to be the main street that held most of the shops, so after finding it, we started looking for a place to park. We decided that it would be easier to just park in the Walmart parking lot down by the lake and walk up from there. That proved to be a bit of a problem because the street leading to the mall was closed. There was a Memorial Service for Sheila Sweatman, the Search & Rescue volunteer that lost her life last month while checking a car that was submerged in the Goat River around Creston. So I guess the area by the mall was being used as a staging area for the many Search & Rescue teams that were coming in from all over Canada and some U.S. states to attend the service.
But we managed to park on Front Street at the base of Cedar Street...we would just walk 2 blocks up Cedar to Baker. And up, it was...other than along the lake edge, Nelson is built on a hillside...so there are lots of hills. The streets must be a blast in the wintertime! We walked the whole length of Baker Street; it is full shops, restaurants and cafes...along with all the usual banks except for the one we were looking for...a TD Canada Trust. The chip on Steve’s Visa card isn’t working so he wanted to go into the TD and get a replacement ordered.
The Court House...
A Museum...
After walking both sides of Baker Street, we walked down to Front Street and then to the waterfront...and the Prestige Lakeside Resort....

We walked along the lakeside trail to the park where the Memorial Service was taking place.
A Fly-Passed...
We looped back up to the truck...we had been walking for 2 hours...so we were glad to climb into the truck and sit down! After driving through some other areas of Nelson...great views from the hillside...we headed back through downtown Nelson and stopped at a Husky station to get gas for the generator and fill up the truck with diesel.

We had passed a car wash a block back that had bays large enough for trucks and smaller RVs and since the truck was really dirty, Steve decided he wanted to wash it. So back we went...it was actually in the same complex where the Laundromat was...Steve had already checked it out when we had been there the other day doing laundry.
About an hour later...and $18 in loonies...we headed home with a clean truck. Now if we could only find someplace to wash the 5th wheel! The overflow section of the campground had filled up quite a bit and there were also plenty of people down at the beach...much busier around here once the sun comes out!
Steve cleaned the wheels and tires on the truck while I relaxed in my lounge chair reading my book. The rest of the evening was pretty much the same as all the others...we had dinner and watched TV...then headed to bed.
