We were pleasantly surprised when we woke up this morning...it wasn't freezing in the trailer, but as the morning progressed the temps began to drop. There is definitely a cold front coming through...the highs are expected to be 55F/13C today and dipping to 50F/10C tomorrow and to remain in the low to mid fifties for the rest of the week. Quite a drop from the 73F/23C we enjoyed on Tuesday!
The only thing we had on the agenda for today was a trip to Parker, AZ, 36 miles north of here. It's the closest place to go for any major shopping, having a Super Walmart, Safeway and Basha's. We headed out late morning...and I forgot my camera, so no pictures (not that pictures of us going shopping would be particularly interesting).
However, it would have been nice to get a shot of us having coffee with Donna and Bill. Donna is Steve's sister's husband's sister (in other words, our brother-in-law's, Mike's, sister). We were just finishing up our shopping at Walmart when Steve said he had passed a woman that looked familiar and thought it was Donna. A few minutes later, low and behold, there was Donna! They had noticed our truck in the parking lot...not hard to miss it...so knew we were here. After a quick chat, we went through the cashier and met them both out in the parking lot and decided to go across the street to McDonald's for coffee.
The last time we saw Bill and Donna was two years ago when they were also camped at La Posa South LTVA. We sat chatting and catching up over coffee and then exchanged phone numbers. After hugs and handshakes we said goodbye and went into Safeway to continue shopping...or should I say, I continued my grocery shopping while Steve sat in the truck with the iPad catching up on the RV blogs he follows.
Before heading home, we stopped to fill the gas containers...$3.14/gallon...and then checked for mail at the Parker Post Office. Earl and Allison are sharing their post office box with us...thanks guys! Appreciate it!
It was just before 5:00 when we got home. After unloading and putting the groceries away, I got dinner on. Steve decided to set up the small catalytic heater inside because it was definitely cooling down very quickly...especially with the wind.
