There was a beautiful sunrise as we sat with our coffee this morning...it's going to be a great day for an ATV ride!
We all gathered at Earl and Allison's at 10:00...then were on our way shortly after. There were 5 ATVs (Earl and Allison; Rob and Peggy; Bob; Steve; Dianne) and 2 RZR...side-by-sides (Sue; Vince). We headed west, crossed the highway and went through the BLM and the continued south on Old Yuma Road...to the community of La Paz...our first stop was at the start of Tyson Wash...
I found a geocache here...it was one hidden by Earl and Allison...
It's a rough ride through this canyon...
This is a wildlife watering station. Dew collects on that white cover and drains into the tank on the end..
Cinnabar Mine...we think this is the mine manager's living quarters...
Cinnabar mercury mine...(click here for an article on the history of the mine)
Can you see Sue thru the left pipe?
Earl found a deflated "Happy Birthday" balloon and Bob zip-tied it to my whip...quite appropriate, since today is my birthday!
After a fabulous ride, we arrived back home at 4:15...perfect...we'll have time for a shower before we go out for dinner!
Earl, Allison, Steve and I arrived at Silly Al's Pizza at about 6:00...Charlene and Dennis (from Blythe) were waiting for us...a few minutes later Bob and Sue arrived...
Sue decided Steve needed to wear Bob's hat for this shot...
Charlene, me and Steve...with Dennis deep in conversation with Bob...
Karaoke time...no one from our table participated but Bob and Sue did get up and dance...
Earl and Allison...
Dennis and Charlene brought birthday gifts for me...thanks guys!!
And...of course...the singing of "Happy Birthday". There was another birthday girl there as well...and her name was Dianne too!
After a great dinner...it was time to head home. Thanks Earl, Allison, Bob, Sue, Charlene, Dennis and my wonderful husband, Steve, for making my birthday dinner so much fun!
This is the second year in a row that we have celebrated my birthday at Quartzsite with a quad ride and dinner at Silly Al's...I think it's becoming a tradition!
Happy be-lated birthday, Looks like you had a GREAT day. Enjoy the warmth, up here we are getting chilly nights and 40-50's during the day. I'm in the middle of deer season this week, 1 doe down so far. Be safe and enjoy. Chris.
