It was exactly 9:00 as we pulled out of our site...soon we were back on the I-5 continuing north. It was a beautiful morning...chilly but at least the sun was shining.
Miles and miles of orchards and farm fields...
A crop-duster out working on this beautiful morning...
We endured some pretty rough stretches of highway but once we got through Sacramento, it seemed to improve considerably.
The Sacramento River...
No lack of rain in this area!
Lunch Time...much nicer Rest Areas in this part of California...
Steve had been reading through one of the California magazines that he had picked up and found an RV park on the Sacramento River that sounded very nice. It also had very good reviews...by the way http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ is a great resource for checking out campgrounds. We use it regularly!
We arrived at JGW RV Park just before 2:00. As we approached, I was a little concerned because it was right beside the freeway but we were pleasantly surprised once we entered. We decided to splurge for a premium site right on the riverfront...an extra $4 and if we paid cash, there was a discount so the 2 nights cost us $74. Yes, a little pricey at $37/night but it had full hook-ups, cable (although we decided to put up our satellite dish) and a good wifi signal. It is really a very nice park (one of the nicest private campground we have been in so far in our travels) and with a wind/rain storm predicted tomorrow, we thought we would hunker down here for at least 2 nights...besides 3 straight days of travelling was tiring and we were both looking forward to some “down” time.
We pulled into our site, R1 which was a nice long, wide pull-through...and provided a great view of the Sacramento River out our back window...and the door-side windows as well. It would really be lovely on a bright sunny day. The river was really high and was expected to get higher as there was a flood warning...but we were up high enough that it shouldn’t affect us at all.
It was starting to spit out as Steve was out finding the satellite signal. He managed with no problem as it started to rain a little harder. We sat inside for a bit and then decided to go out for a walk around the campground...and get some much needed exercise. It wasn’t raining but the breeze was getting stronger and it was a little chilly out. We checked out the laundry and the pool...a nice little pool that is closed for the season right now.
They are predicting that this picnic table may soon be under water...
After our walk, we settled inside in front of the fireplace and watched TV. We are looking forward to a leisurely start to the day tomorrow...
