We experienced our first cold morning in a long time...we even had to turn on the furnace! From the trailer not cooling down enough through the night, to having to turn the furnace on...quite a chance in only a few days!
We got the trailer all packed up and ready to go and then Steve put air in the trailer tires while I popped into Walmart to pick up a few things. We hit the road just before 9:00, continuing north on the I-5.
I believe this is the Sacramento River again...we seemed to cross it numerous times...
Mt. Shasta in the distance...
Just past Redding, we entered Lake Shasta National Recreation Area...a beautiful area...
Absolutely stunning views of the lake but look how low it is after a full winter...
A new bridge under construction...
Mt. Shasta in the distance....
Very colourful trucks...
We stopped at the rest stop just north of Weed, California...majestic Mt. Shasta...
Can you see me? Standing by our rig a midst all of the semi's....
Gorgeous scenery...not sure what mountain-top that is way in the distance...
Statue of a cow in a field along the freeway...
...and a dinosaur...
That's Mt. Shasta...behind us now...
Up we go...
Welcome to Oregon!
Siskiyou Mountain Summit...elevation 4310 feet, highest elevation on the I-5...
Emigrant Lake I believe...
It was a long steep drive down (you would definitely not like this part of our drive, Suzanne!)
We decided to stop at the DSU Peterbilt commercial truck repair facility place in Phoenix, Oregon. They did a service for us in 2011 and since having the service done on our truck in Phoenix, Arizona, the alignment seemed to be off...pulling to the right slightly. Steve wanted to get it check out. They are open until 12:30 a.m. so you can normally get your service done the same day with no appointment.
It was around 2:00 when we arrived there...they could do an alignment but not until 4:00 and would take about 3 hours. So we pulled across the road into an empty lot and unhitched...looked like this would be our camping spot for tonight.
At 7:30 p.m. Steve walked over to see how things were going. The mechanic was just backing out of the bay to take the truck for a test drive. On his return he said that it still tracks to the right. Plan B was to add a shim to change the camber. Steve told them he would be back in the morning...
