The hot temperatures through the day make for pretty warm nights...the trailer isn't cooling down as much as I would like, especially when we first go to bed. So we're not sleeping as well as we'd like. Oh well, we will soon be heading north and the beautiful warm weather we are experiencing here will just be a distant memory.
Instead of Dennis and Suzanne's black jeep, it was Dick and Jean's red jeep that pulled up to pick us up this morning. It was shortly after 9:00 and we were going to the Augustine Casino for their breakfast buffet. When we arrived, Jean went right to the restaurant to put in our name while Steve, Dick and I got our casino cards. This gave us $10 to play on the slots plus a discount at the buffet. Well, a table wouldn't be available for about an hour...so good thing we had something to do! Haha!
It must have been going on noon by the time we had played the slots and then finished at the buffet. Totally stuffed, we headed off...Dick was taking us on a little sightseeing tour of the Palm Springs area. Our first destination was Bob Hope's home...well, we got up this hillside so far and then came across a gated community...oh well...we saw it from a distance on top of the hill so turned around and went back down. Great view...
Palm Springs...
This was Elvis Presley's home....
We continued up the hillside a little further until we came across this Open House...so we stopped and went in to take a look...
Nice pool, but the house was built in 1972 and remodeled into one of those ultra-modern, sterile looking homes for only 1.38 million...it didn't seem to take anyone's fancy.
There was a rooftop deck with a fairly nice view...
Since we were fairly close, Dick drove us up to the Palm Springs Tramway so we could see what we missed last Thursday.
See the tram heading up...it rotates...
It was quite a drive up to the tram and the view going back down was spectacular (although the pictures doesn't do it justice)...
Wind Mills in the distance...
We stopped in Palm Springs for a beer at one of the many bars along the main drag...
It was going on 4:00 when Dick dropped us off...we said our goodbyes to everyone and thanked them...thanks so much Dennis, Suzanne, Dick and Jean for all of your hospitality...we had a great visit!
I put one load of laundry on while Steve flushed the black-water tank and then we hitched up the truck and trailer...all in preparation for leaving in the morning. We've enjoyed our week here but it's time to start our journey north.
