Thursday, March 20, 2014 (Travel to Tri City RV Park, Myrtle Creek, Oregon)

I forgot to share the lovely sunset we had last night...and that Steve had to connect our propane heater since the temps are really starting to dip as we head north. Shorts and flip flops are just a distant memory now :-(

It was a cool start to the day and also cloudy for a change. It's suppose to burn off though...sun is still in the forecast as we continue north on the I-5.

We really didn't rush this morning since we weren't going very far today. We have picked a Passport America RV park about an hour and a half north at Myrtle Creek. After three straight days of travel, we are looking forward to parking our butts for a few days. Tri City RV Park has good reviews and although we really don't know what there is to do in the area (not much by our research), we are going to give it a try anyway.

Around 8:00 Steve walked over to DSU Trucks get the scoop on our truck and pay the bill...which was way less than we were expecting it to be, especially when it wasn't the alignment that was causing the steering to pull to the right. They had to add a 4 degree shim on the right front axle. Steve took it for a test drive and it now seems fine.

We hit the road around 9:30...it was still cloudy out but there is some blue sky in the distance. A mesa (flat tabletop mountain) in Oregon!...
Rogue River...

First day of Spring...Daffodils and leaves sprouting on the trees!

We traveled through Grants Pass, OR. We said "Hi" for you (Hdrider) Dave and Diane!...
...and your exit for Merlin, OR...

Then we went up and down through the mountain passes...
Sexton Mountain Pass...elevation 1960 ft...

Smith Hill Summit...Elevation 1730 ft...
Stage Road Pass...Elevation 1830 ft...

Canyon Creek Pass...Elevation 2020 ft....

Seven Feathers Resort Casino...

Look at the size of the Eagle statue at the entrance...

Fisherman on the Umpqua River OR...

Wow, that's a yellow field!

It was 11:00 when we pulled into Tri City RV Park...a nice hour and a half drive today!

We were given site #41, a 70 ft pull-through (PA cost is $14.14/night...sweet!). The cement pad is level, however, we had to pull as far forward as we could to get plugged in. The service pedestal is located in the middle of the site, so with our plug-in being at the very back of our trailer, the electrical cord couldn't reach without moving forward. All I can say is it's a good thing we still fit in the site! This is a small very well maintained 70 site RV Park with friendly staff. Most of the back in sites are resident RV's but not junky looking like you see in some parks.

Unfortunately, the site is not long enough for us to unhitch and be able to park the truck, so we won't be able to explore the area with the truck. After getting all set up and having lunch, we headed out for a walk. We hadn't done much other than sit for 3 days so it was nice to get out.

We walked to the right of the park until the sidewalk ended and then turned around and walked back, past the park entrance and down a hill and back. The valley is very beautiful...

Nice water fountains in the park...notice the jeans, runners and hoodie? It may be sunny, but it's definitely chillier than Indio, CA!!

We relaxed inside for the rest of the afternoon with the sun streaming in through the windows. It's nice to just chill for a couple of days...we haven't decided yet, how long we are going to stay. We have paid for 2 nights but would like to stay longer however without much to do in the area and not able to drive anywhere, we're not sure. Mind you, we have to be in Junction City, OR on Monday, so we might just decided to stay put for the weekend.
