Wednesday, November 21, 2012 (Midland LTVA, Blythe, CA)

Another beautiful, sunny day here...gotta love it!!  After breakfast Steve loaded up the quad with our recycling and garbage. On his way back he stopped at Bill Wolf's and met his wife Marg and another camper Ozzie.

Today we thought we would do a little sightseeing, so we took a drive further along Midland Road to the old mining town of Midland.

It really wasn’t what we were expecting...I figured it would basically be a ghost town with a bunch of deserted buildings.  But not so...just a lot of foundations and rubble..

There are a few RV's set up in the ruins...

We started to drive further in but when the road got too rough, we turned around...

A hat tree...too funny!

Back home, we decided it was time to get some exercise so we donned our runners and headed out for a walk in the desert...(another picture of my butt...sheesh!)...

We walked a big loop around to the entrance to the campground and stopped to read a monument...the largest war games since WWII were held here in 1964.

This picture is looking from the entrance into the camping area...I am walking over to an information kiosk where there is a telephone as well as a place to exchange books.  Both Steve and I are looking for something new to read and we both found ones that interested us...I have a bunch of books back in the trailer that I will bring down at another time.

Wolf and Marg's place on the left, our rig in the middle and Arman and Ann's place on the right...it looks like we are so close but our rig is really quite a distance behind...

The Wolf's are hosting Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow...

We were definitely hot by the time we got home...after a good 50 minutes/2.70 mile walk.  Now it was time to relax in the shade and start reading our new books.

The sun starts going down so early...it's getting very low in the sky...(that's Dennis and Ann's rig in the background)...

Big shadows as the sun goes down behind us...

...and by 4:20, the sun has gone down behind the mountains.
