named it...Pecker Peak.
We headed north on Parker Dam Road towards the dam...it was
a beautiful day! I took a few pictures along the way...looking towards Arizona from California.
We even came across some wildlife...
Just before we reached the dam there was a road that curved to the left...'Black Meadow Landing 10 miles'...let's check it out...
We passed the pumping station where water is pumped to Los Angeles...
It is a very windy, narrow (in spots) and bumpy road...we were surprised to see someone pulling a fifth-wheel...(don't know if I'd want to take ours on that road)...
There is an upper area with a small golf course with sites backing onto it...
A nice view from up here...that's Lake Havasu...
A cool rock formation...
This reservoir water is pumped up from Lake Havasu then pumped again to LA...
Back at the intersection, we drove a short distance towards the Parker Dam to a lookout area...
Arizona on the left...California on the right...
Before going home, we stopped at Empire Landing to fill up our two water containers. I took some pictures this time so you can see what I mean by a rather odd campground setup. There are a few more people here today...
And this is the entrance to the potable water spigot...not much room to maneuver once through the fancy pillars...
Once back home, we had a late lunch and then relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. I also made reservations at Eagleview RV Park at Fort McDowell where we had stayed last year. We'll stay there for 3 nights in December and then put our rig into their storage area (while we are in Victoria) and take a taxi to the Phoenix airport.
It's a big resort with 800 sites. What we both noticed was that there were hardly any park model trailers...just a few along one side...
Across the street from the resort is the start of their golf course...(and a huge secure RV storage area behind)...
And that was pretty much our day...tomorrow we are looking forward to offloading the ATV's at an area just across the street (not allowed to ride them in the campground) and exploring the area.
