Wednesday, October 3, 2012 (Castle Rock Campground, Fremont Indian State Park, Utah)

We had a very slow start to the day...and it was great!  We both felt tired today with not much energy to do anything.  But we eventually got our butts in gear and brought out our exercise equipment...time to get back into that routine!  I also felt a little short of breath and a bit light-headed; we figured it was from the change in elevation...we are at just over 6400 feet here.

After breakfast and showers, Steve went to off-load the ATVs while I did the dishes and cleaned up.  We weren’t planning on going for a big ride today but you can ride your ATVs in the park and we needed to go back to the visitor’s centre and tell them what site we were in and pay.

It was close to noon by the time we headed off...we drove around the campground and then took the ATV trail that goes to the visitor’s centre as well as one of the Paiute Trailheads.  It went up and over a small mountain...we later found out that the trail was marked as “most difficult”...but it's really not.

Inside the centre, we paid for 4 nights (for now), bought a Paiute Trail Map and then watched a 15 minute video about the park before heading into the museum.

Once we were finished in the museum, we went for one of the short walks that is just beside the Visitor's Centre..."Parade of Rock Art".

On the way to the rock art...

There was more rock art however the angle of the sun made them almost invisible.

On our way back to the campground we checked out the trailhead to the Paiute Trail...this is where we will be starting the trail tomorrow...

A little stream that we passed on the way back...

A great trail...

...with great views...

Back at our site, I sat down with the laptop and got started on our blog...I was ‘2 travel days behind’.  I couldn’t believe it was already after 2:00...but then we had a slow start to the day and that, along with the time change seemed to make the day go by really fast.  Steve relaxed with a bottle of water for a bit and then topped up the fuel in the quads and got them ready for our big ride tomorrow.

Later on, I took a break from the blog and joined Steve outside for happy hour (non-alcoholic beer and wine today).  We checked out the trail map and decided on which trails to take...we are looking forward to our ride tomorrow!
