Thursday, October 18, 2012 (Lone Rock Campground, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon National Rec Area, Utah)

We woke to clear skies again this morning and as we watched the sun come up over the mountain, it looked like it was going to be another beautiful sunny day.

We decided to just hang around here today and watch all the activity.  It was only Thursday but already there were groups of RV’ers arriving.   Around 9:30 five big class A motorhomes arrived with three of them towing large power boats.  They set up just down the beach from us.  There is quite a crew of them...complete with boats, paddle boards, ATVs...and they even set up a horseshoe pit.  Late afternoon, one of the fellows came over and asked us where in BC we were from.  Jim is from Salt Lake City and has been coming here for 40 years.

After breakfast and dishes, I spent the rest of the morning at the kitchen table with the laptop, working on our blog.  Steve was outside reading and then decided to inflate the air mattresses...we didn’t take them into the lake, rather we ended up just laying on them on the sand.

We just relaxed outside soaking in the sun all afternoon.  Steve took lots of pictures...capturing all of the activity around here.  As predicted, it’s going to be a busy weekend.

Late in the afternoon a van arrived and unloaded seven paddle boards...a little while later, six people arrived for a paddle board lesson.  It provided us with much entertainment...

Ooops...splash...one is down...

Oh, oh...he's loosing his balance...

...and down he goes...

Two of the newbies were having a tough time balancing on their boards so they stayed behind but the instructor took the other four off for a paddle to Lone Rock...

Even an ultralite flew over...

Lots of activity around here...but little from us!  We are going on a Canyon Adventures boat tour tomorrow...looking forward to more sighseeing!
