Wednesday, October 17, 2012 (Lone Rock Campground, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon National Rec Area, Utah)

The wind started up last night and was still blowing this morning when I got up.  When Steve got up, he was surprised that I was able to watch TV...the satellite dish was still standing?!  Well, not all that long after he made that comment, a big gust of wind blew it over! And it had been tied down!

After exercises and breakfast, Steve went out to survey the damage.  It’s broken all right!  But he thinks he will be able to fix it...we’ll just need to go into Page and pick up some washers at the lumber store.  Since we had to go into Page anyways, we decided to make it a sightseeing day and go to Glen Canyon Dam.

We also learned something very strange regarding the time zones here.  While at the Glen Canyon Dam Visitor’s Centre, we noticed a clock that indicated an hour behind what our watches said.  When we questioned the Ranger manning the desk we found out that Arizona does not recognize daylight savings time...that means that where we are camped in Utah (10 miles down the road) is an hour ahead of here.  Too funny!

We went through all of the displays in the centre...

We then walked over the bridge to get more pictures...the lake side...

And the river side...

We decided to go out for lunch, stop at the lumber store for the washers Steve needed to fix the satellite dish and then come back for a tour of the dam.  We were back in time to sign up for the 1:30 tour.

The tour was excellent, I'm really glad that we took it...well worth the $5 each that it cost!

Once home, Steve went right to work on the satellite dish...now, hopefully it works.  After a few anxious moments of trying to get a signal, we finally got one...yay...it works!

It was a lovely evening as campers got campfires going...

There was even a dinner cruise boat that went by...
