Saturday, October 13, 2012 (OHV area outside of Coral Pink Sand Dune State Park, Utah)

We woke up to some breaks in the clouds today...yay...looks like we may be back to some nicer weather!  This morning we thought we would drive to the State Park and check out the dunes and hiking trails.  We drove the short distance to the park and after paying a $6 entrance fee, we parked in the day-use area.   There is a dune viewing area...

We then went for a walk on the "trail"...more like a path of footsteps in the sand...that went to various viewpoints...

There were some ATVers out riding the dunes...

The dunes viewing stand...

Some movies were even shot here...

After our sightseeing tour of the dunes, we went back to the fifth-wheel...this afternoon we are going to take the quads out on the dunes for a close-up look.

As we pulled in to the spot in front of the fifth-wheel, the truck got stuck in the sand...oh dear...but after with the help of some wood under the tires, we finally managed to get out.  There were some good ruts left though...

Back home, I made lunch while Steve offloaded the quads.

After a quick bite, we were ready to go...

The highest dune in the park at 100 feet...

...and this is it from the bottom...

No way...I'm not going up there...I'm turning around!

Steve is at the top taking pictures...what freaked me out was that there wasn't a flat spot at the top; the sand was peaked so you were at an angle...don't like that!

Nope...not going down that way...I'll find another way down...

Well...I went down this one...

 ...and up this one...

 Nice view from up here...

Steve had a great time but quite honestly, it wasn't my cup of tea...I guess I just don't like "playing" in the sand!  Once back, we loaded the quads back into the truck.  We have decided to leave tomorrow mainly because we would like to have other people around to help us if we get stuck trying to pull the fifth-wheel out of the sand.  There are a lot of people here just for the weekend.

There were small kids across from us having a great time on their little quads...

Time for a little R'nR as we enjoy the sunshine...
