We were on the road just after 10:00 and it was just a gorgeous day! Not a cloud in the sky! A perfect travel day! We continued south on I-77 and then headed east onto I-20 just before Columbia, South Carolina. It was interesting because all of a sudden, the countryside went quite flat...still lots of trees but much flatter than it had been. We stopped at a big rest area along the way and had lunch. We were surprised on the coolness in the air as we got out of the truck. It was in the low to mid 70’s much cooler than we had been experiencing the past week or so where the temps had been in the mid to high 80’s.
We arrived at Ocean Lakes Campground at 3:00 p.m....and again, I think Serena took us on a little tour of the area rather than the direct route...too funny! Holy Cats! You should see this park! It’s huge! The check-in itself has about 6 lanes to pull your RV into and when you go into the office...well, it’s like checking into a hotel or resort! The park has 893 transient sites that are all pull-thrus with power, water, sewer, cable and phone connection (local calls only) and most have cement pads. But the majority of the place has vacation houses and townhouses. Check out the website... http://www.oceanlakes.com/
After checking-in, we found our way to site K48...that was interesting because the roads separating the rows of sites are very narrow and we missed our road so had to go around again. But we made it into our site which is one of the largest sites. Once we got all set up, Steve thought he would try setting up the satellite dish. I figured he would have no problem but our site is situated a block back from the beach where there are more big trees...the big trees are nice...but unfortunately they block the satellite signal. So, the dish was put away and we settled with the cable TV.
After sitting down and enjoying a drink in our new location, we thought we would take a walk down to the beach before dinner. Wow...just beautiful! We will definitely be spending some time on it....so much to see...but we’d also like to just relax. I can definitely see myself lounging on the beach with a good book this week!
