Thursday, January 10, 2013 (Indian Waters RV Resort, Indio, CA)

We had a very lazy start to the day...it was mid morning when I finally decided it was time that I got my butt in gear and get in the shower.  It was a bit breezy out but the sun was shining and it looked like it was going to be a great day.

Well, it ended up being far from a great day...weather-wise, that is!  Just as I was getting out of the shower, I hear Steve closing the windows and door...and then I found out why.  The wind had started up...you couldn't even see the mountains because of the dust storm.

This picture is taken out our window...you can barely see the mountains in the distance...

And wind, wind, wind...was the order of the day!

We were getting together later on this afternoon with Dennis and Suzanne so this morning my plan was to get our laundry done.  I gathered all of the laundry and then realized that I needed laundry soap.  They didn't sell any at the laundry room, so we had to make a trip to the store.  I took this picture on the way...the wind was causing quite a dust storm as we drove...

The wind ended up putting a damper on the plans Dennis and Suzanne had for us this afternoon.  We were going to go to the outdoor street market in Palm Springs but it just wouldn't have been very pleasant being outdoors in the wind.  So they picked us up around 4:00 and we went to one casino where Suzanne, Steve and I went in to get a Player's Card while Dennis waited in the car outside (he had already picked up his card).  With the Player's Card, you get a free buffet on your next visit to the casino...so our plan is to get the card and come back here on Sunday for dinner.  After we got our cards, we went to spend a couple of hours at another casino...Fantasy Springs.  At this casino, we also got Player's Cards...these ones will give us $30 to spend after we first play with $20 of our own money.  Interesting all of the different promotions the casinos have!!

We spent a couple of hours at Fantasy Springs Casino...Steve hadn't yet spent his $20 so he still has another $7 to spend (or should I say, lose) and then he will have another $30.  Me...well...as usual, I quickly went through my $20 and most of the additional $30!

We stopped for a quick bite for dinner and were home for an early evening.  Hopefully that is the end of the wind...although, the forecast is for cooler temps for the next week.  Sheesh!
