I woke up with a bit of a "sinus-thing" going on…I am
hoping that it is just the change in humidity between BC and Arizona. Hopefully it has nothing to do with the lady sitting in front of us on the airplane that basically coughed and hacked all the way from Calgary to Phoenix. I took some sinus medication and all seemed good for the rest of the day.
We decided to stay for a few nights here at McDowell Mountain because we knew that Monte and Rose were in the area and we were hoping to get together with them. They were more than willing to drive up from Apache Junction and meet us for lunch and a hike.
So we met them today at noon at the All American Sports Grill in Fountain Hills. The sun was
shining so we thought we would try sitting outside on the patio. After closing a shade umbrella so the table
was in more sun, it was lovely and warm. We
enjoyed a delicious lunch and then Monte went with Steve and I went with
Rose…back to McDowell Mountain to go for a hike.
The fountain was spouting again when we left just after 1:00...
After putting on our hiking boots and gathering our
backpacks, water and hiking sticks, we were on our way…after hiking through the valley, it was time to go up...
We were hiking the "Scenic Trail"...
You can see the fountain spouting again way to the south in Fountain Hills...
Someone had put Christmas decorations on a bush...too funny...
Rose and I were way ahead of Monte and Steve (probably because it was downhill!)...
Another rest stop...almost back down in the valley...
Just over 2 hours later and 4 1/2 miles, we were back at our vehicles. What a great hike! Rose and Monte came back with us to our campsite and we sat outside enjoying the late afternoon sunshine. Once it had gone down, it got pretty chilly so we continued our visit inside. At about 6:00...and after hugs and handshakes, Monte and Rose headed off. We had had a wonderful afternoon and a great visit with them.
