Tuesday, August 12, 2014 (Monck Provincial Park, Nicola Lake, Quilchena, BC)

I didn't have a very good sleep last night...it was just too warm. Having said that, we actually slept in until 7:00. Steve wasn't bothered by the heat, though, he said he slept fine. It was a cloudy, smokey day for the most part...we had a little rain and a little sun as well throughout the day.

It was going on 11:00 by the time we were ready to go out for a walk...time to check out the park. That's the day-use area in the distance...

We walked to the other end of the campground and back through the day-use area...

And took the beach path that follows the lakefront...

It was just after 12 noon when Ray and Deb called to see if we were home. They were in Merritt and thought they'd stop by for a visit on their way back to their camping spot. They are further along hwy 5A at Peter Hope Lake Recreation Site. Yup, we're here...so about 20 minutes later, they arrived. We had a great visit...it was nice catching up with them...

About  an hour and a half later, they were on their way...we may join them at Peter Hope Lake next week. Sounds like a nice spot.

We were relaxing...Steve on the iPad and me on the laptop working on our blog, when Doug and Toni stopped by. They managed the park here and have been full timing for 5 years. We had invited them to stop by anytime because we are considering camp hosting or working in a provincial park next summer and wanted to pick their brains and find out more of what was involved. We enjoyed our visit with them...we look forward to seeing more of them over the next week while we are here.

We had a light dinner and then sat outside until it was dark...and the mosquitoes started to be annoying...and then headed inside. Steve ended up watching TV in the bedroom and I continued cruising around the internet, enjoying just being connected to the outside world (while I can)!
