Red with his test pilot Wayne...
Wayne spent quite a bit of time fine tuning the controller to make sure all the control surfaces and motor on the plane operated to his liking for a test flight...
A final hug...just in case it doesn't look like this after the flight...
Take off...
Inverted...
Coming in for a landing...
Success!
Some of Wayne's many planes...
Hand launch...
This pilot doesn't use much sky...he hovers the plane like a copter and does spins and flips almost in the same spot...
Steve's favourite of the day...a P-51 Mustang. Sorry Red!
Rick is from Alberta Canada. He had the only gas plane there...
Waiting to taxi out...
And a nice landing...
Wayne's jet...
Wayne hand launching another one of his many planes...
Cool...this was in the parking lot...
Once Steve left, I finished my breakfast, cleaned the dishes, spoke to my brother, Dennis (looking forward to seeing you, Suzanne and Dunkin this week!) and then went for a good 45 minute walk.
It was going on noon when Steve and Red got back...just in time to receive a Skype call from our son, Chris, and daughter-in-law, Angela. So good seeing and talking with them...congrats on your new job, Chris!
Shortly after 1:00, Les and Sue (Bigboomer) arrived. They are fellow RV-Dreamers that are in Quartzsite for the first time. Les also had a customer hauler built for his other rides. Although Steve has corresponded plenty on the RV-Dreams forum, we had never met them...kinda the same way we met Red and Pam!
We enjoyed a lovely visit with them...they are moving from Plomosa Road over here to La Posa South later in the week. I'm sure we'll be getting together more over the coming weeks! Here are Pam, Red, Les, Sue and me...
Sue and Les as they are about to get back on their bikes and head off. Les has the Harley and Sue has a Honda...
With about an hour before more guests came over, Steve and I had a quick bite to eat and I put together an appetizer to put in the oven. Ruth and Dale will be leaving the area tomorrow and we wanted to have one last visit with them before they go. They, along with Red and Pam, would be over after the Seahawks/Packers football game...should be shortly after 4:00. Well, the game ended up going into overtime...so they were a little late. No problem...the Seahawks won!
We enjoyed a lovely time with them and as the sun went down, Steve brought out the Campfire-In-A-Can. After a couple of hours, we wished Dale and Ruth safe travels...we'll see you down the road!
Then it was time to head inside and Skype Rob, Angie and Conner! They had called just as Ruth and Dale arrived, so we weren't able to take the call but they said we could call back later. We had a wonderful talk with them but they all have bad colds...hope they feel better soon! So good seeing them...Conner is such a sweetie and quite the little character!
Steve and Dianne,
ReplyDeleteIt was great meeting you and we really appreciate the hospitality while visiting.
Meeting Red and Pam was also nice as they are down to earth folks.
We are thoroughly enjoying our first Q experience and look forward to setting up shop at South LTVA later this week.
See you out there shortly!
Les
