Wednesday, October 15, 2014 (Nehalem Bay State Park, Manzanita, Oregon)

It was a rainy, stormy day today...it certainly doesn't fool around when it rains around here! So we had a lazy start and then decided it was a good day to do the laundry. It was 11:00 when we had the bags of laundry loaded in the truck and set off to a laundromat that we had noticed yesterday. It was just a short distance along Hwy 101 towards Nehalem. Corkrey's Coin-op Laundry was one of the nicer laundromats we have been to...and it was empty when we got there. With a couple of sofas to relax on, Steve was comfortable while he researched our next stop along the coast.
After about an hour and a half, we were done and on our way to take a look at the community of Manzanita.

We drove down to the beach where we found a spot to park and enjoy the view while we ate our lunch.

The surf was pretty wild out there today...

After lunch, we found a road that followed the coast up through a residential area of homes with fabulous views...

By the time we got home, the rain had started in earnest again, so we had to wait for a break between downpours to bring the laundry in from the truck. We had a little bit of everything today, torrential rain, wind, fleeting sunshine, lightning and thunder and more torrential rain with hail which was happening in this photo.

We spent the rest of the afternoon hunkered down inside...Steve watched some of "his" programs on TV while I worked on the blog. The forecast is for a better day tomorrow before more rain hits on Friday...so we are taking advantage of the break to continue our trek south.

We also had a couple of visitors come by...

  1. Luck you! That laundromat must be new. We have always gone all the way to Rockaway Bay.

Pretty pictures of the deer at dusk.
