Sunday, August 28, 2011 (Travel to Townsite Campground, Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta)

We had a leisurely start to the day...then did our exercises, had a hearty breakfast and started our pack up.  We were moving to the Townsite Campground that is on the lake and right in the village at Waterton Lakes National Park.  So our travel day today will be all of about 15 kms...now, that’s the shortest travel day yet!

Although check out time is 11:00, Steve spoke to one of the workers and he said it would be no problem if we were a little late leaving.  Check-in wasn’t until after 2pm at the other campground but we would be there earlier than that.  So, we would do a little...relax for a bit and do a little more...and relax.  In other words, it was the slowest pack up that we have done!
We finally decided to leave shortly after noon...what a gorgeous day...
...and arrived at the Townsite Campground about 15 minutes later.

There were already two big rigs in front of us, so after a bit of a wait, we were directed to site #35...a full service site (yay).  As we pulled up to the site, we saw one of the funniest...and stupidest...things we have ever seen.
The sewer hook-up is smack-dab right in the middle of the driveway...not over on the side like the water and power connections...and where all other sewer connections usually are.  What a dumb set-up, if I ever saw one...so Steve had to get the sewer hose out from the trailer then add the extension hose to see where we could park. We carry an old shipping blanket that we threw under the trailer so Steve could crawl under to make the connection. And we thought the electrical posts that were a 100’ away from your site at the Ontario Provincial campsites were the stupidest thing we had ever seen!

We got all set up...one of the first things Steve did was plug the power in so we could get the air-conditioner going.  It was a very hot day out there today.  I got the inside all unpacked while Steve finished up outside...in the heat!  We had no problem getting a good strong satellite signal but for some reason the Rogers Internet Stick isn’t quite as strong and/or reliable here as it was just 15 kms down the road...sheesh!  Most frustrating!  But it’s better than no signal at all!

After we were all set up, we decided to go for a walk down to the lake.  Steve took some pictures....

It was after 4pm when we got back to our campsite...and time to set the chairs up in the shade and enjoy a cold drink.  The air conditioning was going strong inside, so it wasn’t long before we decided to head inside.
The rest of the evening went pretty well as usual...dinner, dishes and TV.  I was trying to get pictures uploaded to our blog so I could get yesterday posted, but it was so slow and frustrating.  I was still up long after Steve had gone to bed to watch TV...and then at about 11:00 all power went out.  The whole campground was in darkness.  Hmmm...I wonder what that is all about?
