We decided to go out in search of a shower today. So after breakfast and exercises, we gathered out gear up and headed into Cranbrook. We arrived at the RecPlex at 11:00 only to find that the pool didn`t open until noon....well, sheesh! So we decided to go for a drive and see a little more of Cranbrook. We determined that Cranbrook is ranked right up there with Edmonton when it comes to rough, pot-holed streets. Most of the roads are in pretty bad shape.
We drove through the Baker Historic Area where there are some old heritage homes. This home was built in 1900 as the "Canadian Pacific Railway Superintendent's House"...it is now The CPR House B&B...
And then we stopped and wandered through the Farmer’s Market they have every Saturday during the summer...
The Market is on the street right beside a beautiful park...
By this time it was noon and time to head back to the RecPlex for showers. We paid our $2 each for a drop-in shower and in we went. The only thing I don’t like about showering at a rec centre is that there is zero privacy but there was no one in the change room so I had the place to myself the whole time.
After lunch at Eastside Mario’s, we headed to Elizabeth Lake to walk some of the trails. We spent about an hour out under the blistering sun...headed to Elizabeth Lake to walk some of the trails. We spent about an hour out under the blistering sun...yes, it was hot...but I’m not complaining!
This is a Coot...
I believe this cute little fellow is a ground squirrel...
The mountains are just beautiful...
It was close to 4:00 by the time we arrived back at our campsite. Time to relax in the shade for a bit before making dinner.
After dinner, I replaced a file on the SD card (that goes in the GPS) for the BC Backroads Maps. We were going to take the ATVs out for a ride tomorrow so Steve researched the area we were going to ride and printed off some detailed maps as well. Should be a good day for a ride...
