Saturday, August 6, 2011 (Jimsmith Lake Provincial Park, Cranbrook, BC)

We had a nice leisurely start to the day...with no plans other than to go into Cranbrook and do laundry (sound exciting??).  It looked like it was going to be a hot beautiful day...

A truck and trailer had taken the other half of our double site last night...and rather than backing in, he had driven straight in.  Well, he developed truck problems...they were on their way home to Calgary...what a way to end a vacation!  Anyway, the tow truck was just arriving when Steve went outside...good timing...he needed to move our truck out of the way so the tow truck could get in.  I guess he, along with a couple of fellows from across the street also helped move the trailer back a bit.  They managed to get the truck out...it would be on its way into Cranbrook for repair.  Our neighbours, Terry and Ginger (and their huge dog) were left sitting in their campsite truckless!  I guess they decided to rent a truck, tow their trailer home (a 4 hour trip to Calgary) and then drive back to pick up their truck once repaired.  Of course, the truck couldn’t have broken down when they were visiting Creston...their friend there happens to be a mechanic!
It was noon by the time I was ready to head out in the truck with the laundry...yes, I was driving the truck, by myself, into Cranbrook to the Laundromat.  No problem, I knew exactly where I was going and what the parking options were once there.  While I was gone, Steve tackled the black streaks on the front (overhang) of our 5th wheel.  All the other streaks came off easily with the remover but these were not co-operating.  They had faded, so not so obvious, but if you looked closely, they were still there...something Steve found very annoying!
I made it back safe and sound shortly after 2pm...I backed into the site with Steve’s help...and after a second attempt at trying to line the truck up with the trailer, I gave up...it was close enough (just a little crooked).
It was 4:00 by the time I had put the laundry away, made the bed up and put on a pot of spaghetti sauce to simmer for dinner...work, work, work! LOL!
We went for a walk around the campground and then sat outside with a drink before dinner.  Another picture of people enjoying the beach on a sunny day at the lake...

After dinner, Steve got a campfire going...more for the ambiance...it definitely isn’t cold out!  We invited our neighbours from next door over to join us.  Duncan and Beverley are retired Anglican Ministers...a very interesting couple.  They have lived in Ecuador and travelled South American quite extensively...as well as a 4 year stint in Hong Kong.  We had a lovely evening chatting with them until about 10:00 when we all decided that it was time to call it a night.
