Instead, we had a rather lazy morning (other than our resistance exercises, that is!) and it was about noon when we decided to head into Fernie. Steve wanted to go pick up the special fishing license needed (classified waters) to fly fish in the Elk River. He will likely give fly fishing a try sometime this weekend.
After we had done that (and picked up some additional flies, as well) we headed off to find James White Park...it looked like a good place to park and go for a hike. Today’s hike wasn’t nearly as scenic as yesterday’s but it was a good walk...just over 4 kms and about 55 minutes...stopping along the way to check out fishing spots for Steve. This time I actually remembered to wear my new hiking boots that I had bought at the North Face Outlet Store when we had been in Oregon last March. Here are some pictures Steve took along the way....
That building on the right with the green roof is the Stanford Hotel where we will be meeting tomorrow morning for our Whitewater Rafting Adventure...Just drifting down the river...enjoying the sunshine...
We were home at about 3:00...time to resume position...outside in our lounge chairs with a bottle of water. On our way home, we noticed big dark clouds heading our way. At about 5:00, the wind and rain finally drove us inside. There had been a couple of rumbles of thunder but not much...darn! After about a half hour or so, the “storm” had passed through...hmm...not sure if that is the end of it though. We are concerned about the weather forecast for our whitewater rafting trip tomorrow...of course, it varies depending on what station/website you check...but so far, it is supposed to be sunny but only a high of 23 (not the 28 or 29 that we have been having).
After dinner we watched some TV while I tried to make some reservations for the municipal campground in Sparwood for late next week. There are not a lot of camping options in the Sparwood/Elkford areas. Unfortunately, Sparwood has nothing available...so I sent an email to the Elkford campground...hopefully we can get something there. Otherwise, we may just have to carry on to Crowsnest Pass.
