Tuesday to Monday, April 9 to 15, 2019 (Oceanside RV Resort, Saanichton, BC)

We had a fairly sunny day for the most part today...a great day to get out for a bit of a walk. We had to go into Sidney anyway, so after a stop at Coast Capital Insurance to renew our truck insurance ($1900...ouch!), we parked the car down by the waterfront and got out for some fresh air. There is a wonderful walking path all along the waterfront here...one of our favourite walks! Unfortunately, I can't handle that long of a walk anymore, so we just went down to the end of the pier and did a loop around the Sidney waterfront...

Back home, we had lunch and did more picture editing and blog writing and Steve researched replacement parts for his RC plane.

Just before 2:30 I headed off to my dental appointment...just a quick filling in my front tooth. I think the needle for the freezing was the worst part of the whole appointment, LOL!

Wednesday (Apr 10) we were back to rain...again! We headed into Victoria about 10:00. Our first stop was at Shaw Communications, only to find that they weren't able to help us with our ShawDirect satellite programming. We will have to phone or use the chat function online.

A shopping trip to Costco was next on the agenda, so we headed out to Langford. It always amazes me how busy they always are...even mid-week! We had lunch first and then I quickly completed my shopping while Steve looked around.

We were finished and back home by 2:30 and then we immediately sat down with the laptop to complete our research and change our satellite program package. After that I put a load of laundry on so that we would have everything clean that we wanted to take with us to Vancouver tomorrow.

Thursday (Apr 11) we were sitting with our coffee enjoying our usual morning when I realized that it was going on 8:00 and we planned to leave by 9:00! We hadn't showered, had breakfast or packed yet! I am always amazed at how fast the first couple of hours go by in the morning. But we did it, including washing the dishes...and were ready to leave at 9:00!

On the way to the ferry terminal, we stopped at the house to pick up a couple of boxes of clothes that Conner and Bryce had outgrown. Angie had asked if we'd take them over to Chris and Angela for Isaac.

On the way to the ferry, the ferry sailing information sign indicated that the 11:00 a.m. sailing was already 72% full...glad we were early! We arrived at 9:31 and went inside for a cup of coffee. Then it was time to return to the car for boarding the ferry...it was a rainy day...
Steve scored a window table in the cafeteria while I picked up lunch...it wasn't busy so we just stayed there for the whole sailing...
The crossing is much nicer on a clear sunny day...unfortunately, it was anything but that today...
We pulled into Chris and Angela's driveway just before 1:30 and were greeted by Angela and Isaac...Chris was at work. OMG....he's grown so much! He's a big boy at 4 months old...
He just takes short naps throughout the day, and although Angela would like his naps to be a little longer, it means he sleeps well (for the most part) at night. We visited with Angela and then looked after Isaac while she went out to pick up some groceries.
Chris got home from work just after 6:00 and we all sat down for dinner...
Wonderful finally being with them again...looking forward to the next few days!

Friday (Apr 12) was a far nicer day than yesterday...sunny out with just a few clouds. We left the house just before 9:00 for our 10:00 appointment with our doctor in Vancouver. With all of the road construction and accidents on the highway, Google Maps took us on a route through back roads...but at least we kept moving rather than sitting in backed up traffic!

We were in plenty of time for our appointment...he was on time, and we were finished and back home by 11:30. Angela's dad, Luigi, was there...he likes to be kept busy so is doing yard work for Chris and Angela. Their back yard grass was completely destroyed through the winter by the birds and raccoons eating grubs...they apparently have an infestation of them in the area and the local by-laws don't allow for pesticides to kill them. The backyard will have to be replanted but right now Luigi is putting a layer of rocks along the edge of the fencing.

So after lunch, Steve went out to give him a hand by shovelling the rocks into the wheelbarrow and taking it around the side of the house to the backyard. While he was doing that, I went out to pick up a few things for dinner...I'm making it tonight.

When I got home, Luigi was gone, Steve was sitting at the table working on picture editing and Angela had taken Isaac out for a walk.

Shortly after Chris got home from work, we sat down to dinner and then had a nice evening playing with Isaac and watching TV.
Saturday (Apr 13) was a wet, windy day...we woke up to the rain and it basically rained all day! So we all spent a relaxing day together inside visiting. Some morning time with Grampa...
And then a little story time...
Dad (Chris) and Grampa looked after Isaac while Angela and I made a quick trip to a store but other than that, we were inside all day...playing with Isaac...
Snuggle time with Gramma...
Dinner tonight was pizza that Angela picked up from a local Italian restaurant...look at this smiley little guy entertaining us at the table...
After dinner, we settled in front of the TV to watch 'A Star is Born'...excellent!

Sunday (Apr 14) was a much nicer day than yesterday...lots of clouds still hanging around but for the most part it wasn't raining. Anxious to get out of the house, we all piled into the car and went to Rocky Point Park, a beautiful city park located in Port Moody, at the far eastern tip of Burrard Inlet.
Rocky Point Park offers excellent amenities. There’s a pier out into the water, plus a pathway all along the waterfront. There are also forested walking trails, a large grassy field, outdoor performance stage and boat launch facilities. The children’s play facilities at Rock Point Park are exceptional. There’s a large playground, a water park area in the summer and a small outdoor pool.
Man made woven bird nests...

We walked out to the end of the pier...
Looking back...
Steve took a selfie...
Then a guy offered to take one for us so Steve reciprocated taking a family photo of them...
 A freighter in the inlet...
Yikes, the sky started getting darker! At this point, we decided we should go back to the car. We later learned a hail storm came through the area...
We spent the rest of the afternoon just chilling at home until it was time to go over to Angela's parents place for dinner.
Luigi, Amanda holding Isaac (Amanda is Angela's brother, Joe's fiance), and Marc (Angela's brother) trying to stay out of the picture...didn't work! LOL!
 Luigi, Lucy and Angela...
 Angela with her Nonna...
We had a wonderful dinner (including great homemade wine) and a lovely evening. Thank you so much, Lucy and Luigi! It was great seeing you and the rest of the family!

Once home...and with Isaac settled...we watched the season premier of Game of Thrones.

We were up early (as usual) Monday (Apr 15) morning and had coffee and a final visit with Chris before he headed off to work. Angela brought Isaac down and we enjoyed morning cuddles with our little boy.

After showering and packing, we gave big hugs to Angela and Isaac and headed to the ferry. Thank you for all your hospitality Chris and Angela...it was wonderful spending time with you and Isaac!

We planned on catching the 11:00 sailing, so left early. Then we saw the highway sign saying there's a one sailing wait...what! Arriving at the ferry terminal at 9:50 their signs still said there was a one sailing wait. That meant we would have to wait 3 hours until the 1:00 p.m. sailing...that sucks! So we parked the car and went inside the terminal. When they announced for all drivers to return to their cars for loading, we didn't pay much attention because we weren't going to make the 11:00 ferry. We finally decided to wander back out to the car...and that turned out to be a good decision! They ended up loading our lane...and we made it on the ferry! Yay! Lesson learned...when they announce all drivers to return to their vehicles, it's best to do as they say as we had to drive around a couple of cars with nobody in them!

Again, we had an uneventful sailing back to Vancouver Island. On the way home, we took a quick detour to Rob and Angie' house. The cherry blossoms on this property are so beautiful...people even have engagement/wedding photos done here during the bloom...
We got home just before 2:00, unpacked and then went for a short walk (hobble) down to the spit. When we got back, Steve decided to take Buster out for a run on the highway...it's been awhile since he's had the truck out.

And that was our week...highlighted by a visit with our third grandson, Isaac!

  2. Isaac is a cutie, Dianne! Family time is precious.

Time to purchase stock in Costco, as they seem to get busier no matter where we go. Shopping at the one in Naples, Florida was similar to a full-contact sport for us this winter!
