Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31, 2019 (Tulalip Resort Casino, Tulalip, WA)

With big hugs, we said goodbye to Dawne, Mike and their family...we really enjoyed our short visit, thank you so much for your hospitality! We are looking forward to seeing you next winter!

It was a beautiful sunny day as we made our way through Portland to I-5 north. Entering the double decker bridge over the Columbia River...

Columbia River...
Second bridge crossing over the Columbia River...
 Into Vancouver, Washington State...

Just past Kelso, WA we ran into some dense fog...
But we were quickly back into sunshine...
Once we hit the outskirts of Tacoma, the traffic was horrific....

 Tacoma Dome...
Stop...go...stop...go...all the way from Tacoma, through the Seattle by-pass, Bellevue and Everett...

Snohomish River as we near Marysville, WA...

 Bald Eagle...
Our destination today is the Tulalip Resort Casino, but first we decided to stop at Les Schwab Tires in Marysville. Steve had noticed that one of the trailer tires had some unusual wear so wanted to get it checked out. As it turned out they were extremely busy as it was the last day to have studded tires on but did send out a guy to do an inspection. He found that both tires on the passenger side had a flat wear spot which usually indicates that the tires locked up from braking. Steve only recalls ever braking hard once which wasn't exactly a panic stop. Hopefully that's all it was...something he'll have to keep an eye on. It was also mentioned that our 2013 tires which still look new are aging out,  which we knew...G114's, 17.5" $$$$!

We pulled into the RV parking lot at the casino just before 3:30 and were surprised to find it not that busy...yet, but it quickly started filling up. Good timing on our part. We even managed to get our favourite spot...the end pull-through...

We talked about finishing our trip home tomorrow, rather than wait until Monday but then decided against it because it's the last day of spring break and the border and ferries would be super busy...so we will just have a "chill day" tomorrow.

After relaxing for bit in the trailer, we headed over to the casino. It was a very busy Saturday! We finally found a couple of spots at one of the bars to have a beer...and then we went to The Drafts Sports Bar and Grill for dinner.

We also learned something new about overnight parking in the RV lot...you now need a player's card from the casino. So, of course, we had to go back in and get that and then call security to let them know.

We woke to a chilly trailer Sunday morning...49F/9.4C inside, so Steve decided to get the propane heater going. That meant getting the propane bottle set up outside and running the hose through the back window. Guess we should have done that yesterday afternoon when we got here.

We had a very leisurely morning...Steve worked on picture editing and then I uploaded them to the blog. It was then back to him to put his pictures in order and add his narrative about the quad ride.

At around 1:30, we decided to get out for a walk...so we went over to Cabela's. Steve always has to go have a look around one of his favourite stores! On our way back, we stopped to check out the lobby of the casino hotel...

Back home, we finished up the blog and got it posted...we're slowly getting caught up! We also had a FaceTime call with Chris, Angela and Isaac...he's growing so fast!

Late afternoon we went over to the casino to spend the $15 we each had on our player's card....that didn't take long! And then we enjoyed a couple of beers...our last day in the USA!

  1. Ugh! That city traffic! Could certainly do without that. Look at Sailun trailer tires on Trailer Wheels and Tires, they are getting good reviews and are less expensive than the G114's.

    1. Thanks Jim...I’ll check it out. Ruth sent me a note saying Trailer Tires and Wheels quoted her $427 per tire and Coach-Net quoted $292. We are Coach-Net members and I really like the G114’s.

  2. Your trip through Portland must have been early, we hit a ton of traffic before and after the bridge. A lot like your Tacoma pictures. Those 2013 tires have seen some miles so that's pretty good service out of them. Can't imagine the price in Canada :0

    1. If we recall correctly we left just after 9 a.m. Some areas were busier than others. I hope to get another year out of those tires...just keep an eye on them.
