Thursday, March 7, 2019 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

With lunch and plenty of water packed in the cargo box, we were on our quads and ready to head out on a ride with Earl and Allison. Cindi also joined us...as a matter of fact, Allison rode with Cindi to see how she liked the side-by-side.

Earl had purchased a book listing some of the local trails so today we are exploring an area we've never been to before on the north side of I-10...and west of highway 95...basically the mountains on the east side of Diablo Pass. There were a lot of dead-end trails but it was still interesting seeing a new area.

Our first stop was the wagon wheel...
That must have taken a long time to rake all the stones into this perfectly laid out pattern...

Lots of purple flowers in bloom, unfortunately they don't show up all that well in the photo..
It's a dead end...
Allison is really enjoying her ride with Cindi...

Checking for a geocache...

The trail book only listed the wagon wheel but then we started passing by other desert art...Big Horn Sheep...

Then we spotted more desert art...
An Eagle...

Earl and Allison have been here years ago...
There is suppose to be a geocache here but we couldn't find it even though Earl and Allison have in the past...

We decided to stop at the top of the hill for lunch...maybe not the best place because of the wind but at least we had a good view of the area...
Leaving our lunch stop...
Earl heading up the hill but when he got to the top the trail looked too rough to continue...
So we turned around...
Earl is at the top of the hill...

We have riders coming up behind us...they eventually turned off...

Hands up!

Earl is already on top of the next hill on the middle trail in the distance...
I'm now there...

Cindi and Steve took the steeper trail on the right...
Cindi and Allison on the trail below...

That's me on top of the next hill in the distance...

We're now riding alongside the I-10...
Crossing under the I-10...
Turning into the Dome Rock BLM camping area...

Not that many campers left out here...
Hard to tell but the base of  the mountain is covered in purple flowers...
As well as the desert floor...
After another great ride, we arrived home at about 2:30. Steve fuelled up the quads, locked and covered them while I cleaned and plugged in the radios and GPS's.

I was sitting outside knitting when Bob and Cori, friends from BC, pulled in on their dirt bikes. They are on their way home from spending the winter down on the Baja, Mexico. We sat in the shade...and out of the wind...behind the trailer and enjoyed a drink...great catching up with them. Darn...we were so busy catching up we never thought to take a picture :(

After we said goodbye to them, we changed and then headed over to Mike and Dawne's place where Red and Pam are hosting a grilled burger dinner.

Gee, all of the dogs seem to know when I have treats in my pocket...that's Brodie, Cody and Abby...
Dawne hamming it up with Red...I think she had some cheese for him...
Left to right...me, Leslie, Dave, Dawne, Deb, Gary, Mike and Colan...
And on the other side of the circle...Red, Pam, Ruth, Dale, Cindi, Allison and Earl...
Everyone called it a night at about 8:00. Dave and Leslie came over for a nightcap with us...it's their last night (sad face). A last picture of my buddy, Margaret...gonna miss you and your mom and dad!
