Wednesday and Thursday, November 7 and 8, 2018 (Travel to Lamesa City Park, Lamesa Texas)

After a fairly peaceful night in the Walmart parking lot, we were up early and headed over to McDonald's for coffee and breakfast. We also picked up a flat of bottled water and a sandwich for Steve to have for lunch. Once back at the rig, Steve cleaned the truck windows and we were on our way...it was shortly after 8:00 a.m.

After doing a little back-tracking to a Flying J, we fuelled up with diesel and then continued on highway 277 west. Some scenery along the way...

We found the countryside changing so much as our route took us along some Texas secondary highways...and of course, more road construction...

Driving through Snyder, Texas...

Lots of cotton fields...

We arrived in Lamesa, Texas about 1:00 and found the city park. It has around 8, 30 amp and water sites, plus a dump station...and is free for 4 nights! Good find, Steve!

We got all set up...we figured we'd spend two nights here and have a 'down' day tomorrow. Since we arrived early in the afternoon, it gave us some extra time to get some odds and ends done...like work on a blog update. We also heard from Dave and Leslie...they are going to meet us in Carlsbad, NM ...nice! So we spent some time trying to find an RV park for Friday, for the 2 of us. The reviews for the campgrounds nearest the Carlsbad Caverns weren't great, tight spots and lots of oil field workers. Brantley Lake State Park was booked so we finally decided to just go with the Carlsbad KOA...a little pricey and farther away but at least we know we'll fit!

The sites here back onto the park...a disk golf course....
Thursday was a cloudy and cool day...perfect for a lazy, quiet day. After showers and a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs (no McDonald's today!), we cleaned up and then went out for a short walk...
The rest of the day was spent on blog updates...and picture editing. Will we ever get caught up?!!
