Monday, November 26, 2018 (Catalina State Park, Tucson, AZ)

Monday morning we all hopped on our bikes and rode down to the trailhead to hike some of the great trails they have here at Catalina. After locking our bikes up, we hit the trails. We started off on the trail to Montrose Pools...
A beautiful day...

Dave hamming it up...

After checking out Montrose Pools, we walked back to the junction of trails and took the Canyon Loop Trail. We even managed to bag a couple of geocaches along the way...

The desert is blooming...

Rest stop with fabulous views!
Fall colours...
Time to continue...down we go...

Barrel Cactus...
Down to the creek...
There's a geocache over there...

Dave and Leslie...

We met a couple of horseback riders....

I'm coming!

The colours are beautiful...

Amazing Saguaros...
Another beautiful rest stop...

It's amazing how many arms some of these have...
How's this for a Crested Saguaro? Wow! We even found a geocache here!

The views are spectacular...
Saguaro forest...

Look at all that green grass!

Another fabulous hike! 3.54 miles/5.7 kms (plus 2.5 mile bike ride to trailhead and back)...
We were home around 1:30...and after a quick shower, were ready to head out for a beer and snack with Dave and Leslie. With the help of Trip Advisor, we decided on Noble Hops...a good choice. Margaret was even able to join us on the patio!
We were back home just before 4:00...time to get the propane campfire out. Ruth and Dale joined us for happy hour...but could only stay for about an hour because they had to get back to their carpet cleaning (what a rigmarole Dale went through with that!). The rest of us stayed out a little longer until it got a little too chilly and we called it a night.

  1. What a fabulous crested saguaro. Wow. The desert is so green and lush, they must have had quite a bit of rain.

  2. What a great hike! Loved the colors and the water. We'd love to return to Catalina, maybe next year. Nice to see Dale and Ruth too.
