Saturday morning Doug, Sue and Tucker stopped by to say goodbye. After big hugs and handshakes...and a few dog cookies for Tucker...they left to continue with their morning park duties and we continued our pack up. It was wonderful seeing you! Thanks for the special treatment we received while visiting your beautiful park! About an hour later we pulled out and said goodbye to Tunkwa Provincial Park.
After a stop in Logan Lake to dump our tanks, we continued east to the Coquihalla highway...and south. Down we go into the Nicola Valley...
A glimpse of Nicola Lake to the left of the highway...
After the descent into Merritt, we started the climb out of the valley...
If you're a fan of the TV series 'Highway Thru Hell', the Coquihalla Hwy is where most of it is filmed...
A snow shed...
It was around 1:30 as we approached Fort Langley...
A very busy place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon....
Farmer's Market...
The traffic was backed up and moving very slowly into town...we thought it was just a typical busy Saturday, but then we realized that the road ahead was closed...there was some sort of festival happening (we later learned that it was a Food Truck Festival) and the street was jammed packed with people.
Great...now we're going to have to maneuver the side streets around to the other side to the campground! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures but the streets were full of pedestrians and vehicles vying for parking spots...leaving barely any room for a normal sized vehicle to get through let alone a rig our size! We made it around...just one more corner and we'll be back on Glover Road...
Did it! There's one of our favourite spots on the left...The Fort Pub!
We pulled into Fort Camping just before 2:00 and were greeted at the gatehouse with! a "Welcome Back"...our usual site (C-1) was ready for us.
We got leveled, unhitched...and all set up. One thing we really noticed was the humidity...whew...it was warm...finally!
Steve didn't have any beer left, so we decided to walk into town to the liquor store...and check out the festival that had closed the main street.
Lots of people enjoying the Fraser River...
Lots of people...they sure had a nice day weather-wise for the event...
We made it to the liquor store and with a case of beer tucked into a backpack, we started back...
We decided we deserved a stop at The Fort Pub...for a beer and an early dinner. The food truck smells were tempting however we weren't willing to stand in the long lineups...
It's good to be back at our 'home away from home'! Lots to do over the next month as we prepare for the Fall...and our adventure overseas!
Big fan of "Highway thru Hell" pvr is set for the new season!!!! Hope you get that nasty sqeal in the exhaust brake dealt with once and for all. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. Our fingers are crossed for a solution once and for all.
