Monday, August 29, 2016 (Travel to Three Valley Gap, Revelstoke, BC)

We had a beautiful sunrise over Cochrane Lake this morning! After our morning coffee, we loaded our stuff back into the trailer, hitched up and once we were all ready to go, we went back inside to a full breakfast...thanks, Ken and Charlene! With our bellies full, we said our goodbyes and and were off. Thanks again, for all your hospitality, we had a great time!

We made our way back to highway 22, heading south through Cochrane...
Bow River...
The Rockies in the distance...

Once we reached the Trans-Canada highway, we were on our way west towards the foothills...
...and the mountains...

Bow River...

Since we were not stopping in Banff National Park, we were able to take the 'through lane', bypassing the gates...

Such a spectacular drive...the scenery is amazing!

One of many wildlife crossings...

We're back in BC!

We went through Yoho National Park...

Passing Field...

 And through Glacier National Park....

Kicking Horse River...
Netting for falling rocks...

Another wildlife crossing...
Approaching Golden, BC...
Columbia River...

We ran into a little road construction just before Rogers Pass...
It was a little hairy because traffic was in both directions going through one side of the snow shed making it a little narrow with a big rig...
 Lots of snow sheds.

Waterfall coming off the glacier...

Another snow shed...

We went through Mount Revelstoke National Park and the city of Revelstoke...our destination for tonight is not far away now...
Columbia River, getting a lot bigger now...

Three Valley Gap Lake Chateau...

This is a really cool place to visit if you ever get the chance...

Just past the Chateau, we turned left (away from the lake) onto Wap Lake Forest Service Road...
A short distance in there is a large gravel pit area where the annual Three Valley Gap GPS Run is held. Rather than go up to where the event is actually held, we found a spot on the lower level and settled in for the night...

  1. Never tire of the view going through the mountains in either direction. Awesome pics of the mountains. Cool overnight spot too, want to remember that one.
