Wednesday, February 10, 2016 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

This morning, we were up, had our coffee, had done our exercises, had breakfast and showered...and were ready to go by 10:30. Oh, I had also put together a salad to take with us.

Charlene and Dennis picked us up shortly after 11:00 and we headed off to Bouse...we're joining them for, I believe, the third year at Jim and Mary's community Valentine's Day Turkey Fry. Jim and Mary hold several events a year and many of the locals from Bouse and as far away as Yuma attend. He has about 45 acres in total including roughly 25 lots that he has put services in. They have quite a community of friends that have joined them to enjoy the warm winter months in the south. In exchange for a site to park their RV, everyone helps out with developing the property.

We arrived just before noon...nice and early to have our pick of tables...and to enjoy a couple of margaritas before lunch. Lots of raffle prizes on display...

Margaritas being buzzed up in the blender by these lovely ladies...
One of the resident ladies painted this 5th wheel, now used as an inside gathering spot...
Steve, Jim (our host), Mike (a former customer of Steve's) and Dave (I think?)...
The guys supervising the turkey fryers and guarding the bathroom shack......
Pulling apart the turkey...
Pulling out another bird and a tray of margaritas being delivered...
We even had entertainment! A bunch of folks from the community get together often and have "jam sessions"...
Time to eat! We were at the head of the line...

Steve, Dennis, me and Charlene with our plates full!
More music and some dancing after lunch...
Jim and Mary figured their gathering was smaller this year...maybe 90 - 100 people.

Charlene and I won raffle prizes!

Jim is quite the collector...on the way out Steve took a picture of this old bus on the property...quite the door! Jim used to own a few very successful junkyard businesses...
A couple of sites across the road...

It was about 4:30 when we got home...thanks for a lovely day, Dennis and Charlene, and including us in your plans for today!

We joined Earl, Allison and Eric for a drink and then returned home for a Skype call with Rob, Angie, Conner and Bryce. It was the best internet connection we've had in a long time...the picture was clear and we had a great chat with them all. I must say, I am certainly looking forward to seeing my little guys this spring when we return to the lower mainland...and make the trek over to Vancouver Island!

We decided to skip dinner tonight after such a big lunch...having a light snack instead, while watching our favourite TV shows.

The temperatures have sure warmed up here...the high today was 82F/28C and the forecast for the next week is pretty much the same. We really noticed it today, as we sat out in the sun all afternoon...it was pretty darned hot BUT we're not complaining after the cold temperatures we've had down here this winter!
