Sunday morning at about 10:00, the four of us headed out on our ATV's for a little exploring and geocaching...it was a gorgeous morning!
Earl, Allison and me...
Shortly before noon, we noticed that the clouds were getting thicker....hmmm...looks like a little rain might be in store for us!
Earl logging in a cache...
Sure enough, it wasn't long before we had our rain gear on! Here we are at another geocache...I found it hidden under the bridge...
Earl finds another...
By this time we were getting pretty wet!
This is much steeper than it looks...
We passed through many more scenic areas but due to the rain Steve found it a hassle trying to get the camera out from under his rain gear. We were back home around 3:00...and the rain wasn't letting up...at least we had had our rain gear with us! This cloud looks rather ominous...such a change in the weather from this morning!
We enjoyed happy hour around our Campfire-In-A-Can...under our awning...
The sun eventually returned. After dinner, Earl and Allison came over and we played Rummikub. We played about 5 games and Allison was hot...she won most of them except maybe one. Earl managed that one but Steve and I were complete losers! We'll have to have a re-match another night!!
Monday, we woke up to blue sky but it wasn't long before the fog rolled in. Luckily most of it had lifted by the time Steve and Earl headed out fishing. It just took a little longer for the sun to break through the cloud covering.
This family stopped by to wish them luck...
Fishy Fishy Bite!!!
Can you see the Marmot on top of the cliff?
After a couple of hours out on the lake the guys gave up and returned skunked...well, Steve said he had one hit. He's very disappointed with the fishing here as it's known to be good.
After lunch we decided to head out on the trails again. After conferring with the BC Backroad Maps, Steve and Earl figured they could find the trails that would take us from Leighton lake to Mount Savona.
Earl and Allison...
Now this picture is deceiving...it really doesn't look that steep...BUT IT WAS! Steve's note on the picture..."Can she do it?!"...
Yes, I made it, but I had to take a minute to calm my nerves...and my thumping heart!
A geocache!
Kamloops Lake Panorama Shot...
Kamloops Lake...Savona on the shoreline...
Savona...
And Kamloops way off in the distance...
Looking west...Thompson River...
Indian Paint Brush...
We're on top of Mount Savona!
Steve, Allison and Earl...
Steve and...me...
It took a couple of tries, but we found the right trail (not on the map) that completed the loop and were back home by about 4:00...just in time for happy hour!
Cheers....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EARL!!
Tuesday was a pretty quiet day...it was too hot to do much of anything!
A beautiful start to the day...
Steve did get out in the morning to work on the truck. He had bought replacement rubber tubing for the rollers on the boat loader. He managed to get the back two done before calling it quits...the front ones will just have to wait until cooler weather!
Steve went for a bit of a walk and took a few pictures of the ATV staging area. This is the entrance to the campground. To get to the staging area, instead of following the curve into the campground, you just drive straight...
This view is looking back towards the campground from the start of the ATV trails...
After dinner, once it had cooled down a bit, we loaded the boat back onto the truck and then headed over to Allison and Earl's for another session of Rummikub. This time, Steve and I fared much better...I won the first 3 games...after that, things went downhill for me...Allison and Steve won leaving Earl "win-less" LOL!
Tomorrow we are all heading to Three Valley Gap, about 20 minutes west of Revelstoke, BC. to attend the 2014 GPS ATV Ride sponsored by the Revelstoke and Sicamous ATV Clubs. We attended it 2 years ago and had a blast! We're really looking forward to it!
