Thursday, January 31, 2013 (Travel to Indian Waters RV Resort,, Indio, CA)

It was a beautiful morning as we leisurely packed up and got ready to travel back to Indio.  We weren't in a huge hurry because it's not a long drive.  Before putting in the slides, Steve wanted to dust them off with his California RV Duster...(as per your request Mike this is what it looks like)

It was shortly after 11:00 when we hit the road going east on highway 22 towards highway 86 and Salton City...where we would turn north.

We passed a palm tree plantation on highway 86...

There was a stretch where there was so much salt on the ground that it looked like snow...

It was about 12:40 when we pulled into Indian Waters RV Resort.  We have decided to return here for a few nights...my brother, Dwight, has flown down from Victoria and is visiting Dennis and Suzanne, so we thought we would connect with them...and...we also need to restock with groceries as well as do laundry. With our Passport America discount, the cost is extremely reasonable at $16/night for a gravel site making it a great place to take advantage of full hook-ups and get cleaned up before we head back out for more boondocking. (We wanted to avoid the nightly watering at the grass sites that we experienced last time as it stains your rig with waterspots.)

Dennis, Suzanne and Dwight are going to pick us up around 5:00 so once Steve connected the power, I gave the trailer a good vacuuming while he continued with his set up outside.  The sewer connection at this site is placed at a really odd spot...way at the back...so...you got it, our sewer hose, even with the extra length attached (30 feet) we ended up 2 feet short...Sheesh!
I guess we will be buying a longer hose...which is fine since Steve had been meaning to replace our original hose anyway.

You can see in this picture of the site beside us just how far back the sewer connections are.

As soon as the house cleaning and set-up were finished, we had a couple of hours until we were being picked up so we decided to go and get groceries.  Steve dropped me off at Winco while he went to Sunbird RV to picked up a new sewer hose and coupling.

We were picked up just after 5:30 and were off to Palm Springs...they hold a very popular street market there every Thursday night. We missed it the last time we were here (because of the strong winds and cool temps that day).  After finding a parking spot a few blocks away, the first thing we did was go for dinner...at Bill's Pizza...

After a delicious dinner...

...we went to explore the street market.  They close down quite a few blocks along the main street to  hold the market.

All sorts of creations for sale...

Rob, we think you should get one of these for your deck...

...as well as entertainers...this fellow was playing Paint it Black by the Rolling Stone and he was fabulous!

This fellow was playing a really cool sounding instrument...I think it was some sort of version of an electric cello...

Steve, Dwight and Dennis under Marilyn...

Even some beautiful Clydesdale horses...

We had a lovely evening...thanks, Dennis and Suzanne for including us!  It was almost 10:00 by the time we got home and we were both exhausted...time for bed.
