Dennis and Charlene, a couple we had met at Midland LTVA outside of Blythe last November, had invited us to join them at a Turkey Fry and potluck in Bouse, about 20 miles further down Plomosa Road. They would be by at noon to pick us up.
We had a nice surprise as we were waiting...a couple we had met at the Oregon Rally stopped by to say hello. Jesse and Sherry are RV-Dreamers that live in Cottonwood, Arizona. They weren't able to attend the rally here but drove down for the day to visit. It was great seeing them!
Right on schedule, Charlene and Dennis pulled in to pick us up. After big hugs, we were all in the car and on our way to Bouse and their friend, Jim's, place. Jim holds several events a year and many of the locals from Bouse attend as well. He has about 45 acres in total including 25 lots that he has put services into. He now has quite a little community of friends that have joined him to enjoy the warm winter months in the south.
In exchange for a site to park their RV, everyone helps out with developing the property.
The annual event today was a turkey fry...the deep fryers were cooking as we entered...
We found an empty table and made ourselves comfortable...
There was live music...lots of talented people in the community...there seemed to be a continual
changing of band members taking their turn.
Dennis with the host, Jim...
Soon it was time to eat...
Steve, Dennis and Charlene...
There was a fellow in the band that Steve recognized and was sure was from Victoria. Dennis took him up to introduce them and they figured out that Mike who had his own electrical business used to be a customer a number of years ago...what a small world! Mike has installed much of the electrical system at Jim's sites.
Dancing...
After a great afternoon, we thanked our host and were on our way home. It was so very good seeing Charlene and Dennis again...thanks so much for including us in your afternoon! Charlene also left a gift for our new grandson...a beautiful baby blanket that she knit. Thanks, Charlene!
We were back just as Linda and Leesa were putting the final touches on dinner...they had cooked up 2 great big pots of chili. The guys were out playing some sort of golf game...
Soon everyone was gathering around and it was time to eat...our host Linda dishing out the chili...
Steve took this group picture...he's even in it...well, his shadow is...
Our neighbours, Jim and Melba had their rig all decorated for Valentine's Day...
Soon campfires were lit...
...and the music started...Melba and our host Howard got the dancing started...
The dance floor was lit with luminaries...
Our hosts, Howard and Linda...
A great afternoon...a great evening....make a great day!
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!
