Tuesday, February 19, 2019 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Tuesday was another quad ride...to an area, believe it or not, that we have never been to! Skull Rock in the Kofa Mountains. We've only ridden a little on the east side years ago. We all headed out at 10:00...Jim and Cec have been there before so they are leading, Cindi (no Roger today), Earl, me and Steve.

It was a cold, clear day...and windy! So we had our long-john underwear on under our jeans and the heated hand gripes turned on high!

Over to Steve now...so he can tell you about our ride...

Kofa Mountains in the distance. It's around 24 miles/39 kilometres to Skull Rock and most of that is fairly flat and gets a little boring after awhile...

We've finally arrived, now the scenery is getting more interesting...

This valley is absolutely stunning to ride through as the mountains tower over you...pictures just don't do it justice...

Arriving at Skull Rock...

Earl pulling up. Wow...that is very cool!

Me, Jim, Earl, Cec, Dianne and Cindi...
There is a fire pit inside the skull...
Time for lunch...it's cold and windy! The yellow flowers are just beginning to bloom...

It's hollow under that rock...how does it not fall over?!

Cindi and Earl climbed up to check it out... On the upper left there is a small arch...
Time to head off farther up the valley...

The rock on the left also appears as a face...

The rock structure left of centre reminds me of the Flintstones cartoon...
End of the line...no motorized vehicles are allowed beyond this point to protect wildlife...

Last look of Skull Rock as we pass by...

Time for a break...

Then we checked out the Labyrinth...couldn't find any info on it and nobody seems to know who made it. This is beside the road to Palm Canyon in the Kofa Wildlife Management area...
It was a long ride...about 65 miles altogether. Even though a lot of those miles aren't very scenic, it's when you get to the Kofa Mountains and into the canyon that the beauty is amazing.

Dave and Leslie, figuring that I wouldn't feel like cooking dinner after a day out riding, invited us over for dinner....how thoughtful! I threw together a Greek salad as my contribution and we headed over. We were treated with a fabulous meal of pork chops in mushroom gravy along with mashed potatoes...great "comfort food" on this cool day!

After dinner we all went over to our place to watch TV...Steve had PVR'd a couple of our favourite shows, FBI and NCIS. So nice to just fast forward through those commercials!

    1. That is probably the most scenic ride we’ve ever done down here!
