Thursday to Tuesday, January 10 to 15, 2019 (LaPosa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Thursday was a pretty low-key day...I got out for a 3 mile/5 km walk while Steve showered and had breakfast. Once home, I did the same.

Later on we headed into town to run a few errands...gas, propane, drinking water and the ATM. We also thought we'd check Love's Truck Stop for a new hub cap for the truck. Steve had noticed a few years ago that they stocked them but not anymore. The more we try to find a replacement, the more we are convinced that it was, in fact, stolen on the PEI ferry. Looks like he is going to have to go directly to the distributor for Alcoa, Find It Parts and order a new one...not cheap at $122 US.

On our way home, we decided to stop at La Mesa RV and see if they have the Beacon fifth-wheel, made by Vanleigh. They did...along with a number of Vilanos. We looked through them plus a number of others too...the Vilano had a floor plan that we liked. Fun checking them out!

The screen on our laptop has been acting up for awhile...and recently it started flickering and not stopping, so Friday morning we decided to take it to a repair place in Parker called 'Click It'...instead of going to Blythe with Earl and Allison, as originally planned.

As we get close to Parker, we noticed dark smoke...no idea what it was...
We dropped the laptop off at 10:30...they said they would diagnose and call us in about 3 hours with the estimate for repair. So off we went to do a little shopping at Walmart.

Lunch out was on the agenda for today, so we thought we'd drive along the Colorado River and go to Strokes, but with limited parking, there wasn't any room to park our monster...
...so we continued on a short distance further to the Pirates Den. At least they have plenty of parking there! That's not snow ahead but salt...

We had just finished lunch and were walking back to the truck when Luca called...the laptop needs a new screen and battery. We gave him the okay to go ahead with the repair...it will be ready by Monday afternoon.

We made a couple of other quick stops in Parker and then were on our way back to Quartzsite. After putting the groceries away, I went out for a short walk...1.65 miles/2.65 kms.

Saturday was resistance exercises day again...after which I did my 3 mile/5 km walk. When I got back, Steve was outside flying his glider.

The rest of the day was pretty well filled with chores. After dishes, I cleaned inside...scrubbed bathroom, dusted, washed floors, and vacuumed. While I was doing that, Steve was outside putting the tire covers on the trailer and then he "pumped and dumped" the holding tanks. We even managed to get the clothes line up.

By mid afternoon the rain had started...good thing all the outside chores were done! After dinner, Earl and Allison came over for an evening of Rummikub. Steve finally broke his loosing streak by winning a game!

Sunday morning Steve joined me on a walk before breakfast...we did 2.26 miles/3.64 miles today. While we were having breakfast, Earl came over to see if we wanted to go geocaching...sure!

We were all ready to go just before 10:30...there were six of us; Earl, Allison, Jim, Cec, Steve and me. We headed over to a long string of geocaches on the other side of I-10.

The following are pictures taken from the Go Pro video...
Getting started with the first geocache...
Then we start leap frogging each other to the next geocaches...
Found ours...
We checked out the Ocotillo branches and found a loose one with the geocache zip tied to it's base...

Steve drives by Earl and Allison as they hunt for theirs...
Down we go!
We passed by a large fenced off area that's a wildlife watering station...

Jim and Cec passing by us...
Steve found this one...
Earl and Allison...
Jim and Cec...
Steve found another...
For those that don't geocache this series of caches are a 20 gauge shotgun shell inserted into a 12 gauge shotgun shell. Inside is a rolled up piece of paper that you sign your geocache handle. Other geocaches may be in a variety of different sized containers that will have a variety of trinkets in them that people will leave if they want to. Some may even have what they call a travel bug that you can take and place in a different cache anywhere in the world...
After finishing geocaching for the day we returned through La Posa North LTVA where we came across some colourful school buses and lots of people sporting dreadlocks...
Tenters are suppose to be within 500 feet of a pit toilet but with the government shutdown there doesn't appear to be much enforcement of the rules. The grey car is up on blocks...another no no. On a later ride when we passed by they were all gone accept their garbage and the car!

It was a long day of geocaching...arriving home at 4:00...but we had found 87 caches between us! After we all cleaned up, everyone congregated back at our place for happy hour...a great way to end the day! Cec and I have matching ATV/BC t-shirts on...
Monday was exercise and walk day again...our usual routine is that I do my walk while Steve finished his exercises and takes his shower. When I get back, I shower. Today was no different.

While I was having my shower, Red and Pam arrived. They had been at Road Runner BLM for the last few days at a Grand Design Rally.

Our laptop is supposed to be ready this afternoon, so by late morning we were heading back to Parker. We ran a couple of errands, picked up the laptop...and then were on our way back home.
Once there, we went over to Red and Pam's for a visit...so good to see them again! They plan on spending a couple of months here...nice!

While we were there, it started to rain...and rain is in the forecast for tonight and all day tomorrow!

And rain, it did! It rained most of the day Tuesday. Earl and Allison's trailer on the right and Jim and Cec's behind them...
Red and Pam's trailer...
It was the first time in our 8 years coming here that we've seen a river running in the wash behind us!
So today was pretty well an inside day. We managed to get a blog update done, however the internet is really bad here this year...and is getting worse and worse as more folks arrive here for the RV show.

We managed to get out for a short walk when we thought the rain was over...barely making it back before another huge downpour!
