Saturday, December 13, 2014 (Travel to La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

We woke to thick fog this morning...very eerie and very unusual. That is Armand and Anne's rig barely visible...
Dennis and Charlene's...
As the sun came up, the fog dissipated...

Just a strip left along the horizon...

We didn't have very far to drive today so we took our time...it was about 10:30 when we were all packed and ready to go. We said goodbye to Charlene and Dennis and after big hugs and handshakes, we pulled out of our spot. Charlene also gave us each a pair of "toasties" that she had knit...a great way to keep our feet warm on these cool desert nights! Thanks, Charlene! We stopped to say goodbye to Anne and Armand and then continued on to the sani-dump.

These people haven't returned to the spot they fixed up last year...they have spread a pathway of white rocks around what was their site. There are actually a number of spots like this.

It was just before 11:00 by the time we pulled out of Midland LTVA and headed down through Blythe and then I-8 east. We crossed the Colorado River...
...into Arizona...

Dome Rock...
RV's parked in the distant valley...
Quartzsite ahead...

We took the exit off I-8 to highway 95...through Quartzsite, and then south...
About 4 miles south on highway 95 is La Posa South LTVA...

We proceeded to the watering station after our exhausting one hour drive and filled up with fresh water, then made our way over to the spot, next to Art and Jan. Our good friends, Earl and Allison, are unable to be here this year due to health reasons, so we are taking their usual spot. We truly wish that it was them here in their spot...and us just across or down the road but circumstances have prevented that. We will miss them this season!

It was questionable as to whether we would be able to maneuver into the spot but Steve managed with little difficulty and we got all set up. We plan on being here for awhile...possibly until sometime in February. By the sound of it, we will have lots of friends to visit as many are planning to make Quartzsite a stop on their travels this winter. Looking forward to it!

  2. LOL,,, I'm sure Steve puckered trying to maneuver the rig around in that tight (100's of acres) site.
We will be sure to hunt you down while in Q this year. I'll bring the toy for Steve to drool over.
