I forgot to post this picture that Steve took late last night...it was about 10:30 when this fellow came strolling along...
It was a rather cloudy, foggy start to the day today as we headed out of Lynx Creek RV Park. Quite a fog bank over the Peace River...
We continued on highway 29 that joins up with the Alaska highway 86.3 kms/53.6 miles north of Dawson Creek. The highway follows the river for quite a ways...
A little sun/blue sky made an appearance...
Beautiful scenery...
Hmmm...now those clouds don't look very nice...
A lovely view of the Peace River Valley...
The highway starts a long winding climb...10% grade...
Lots of climbing and descends (ups and downs!) on this highway...
About 66.6 kms/41.4 miles, we hit the junction of the Alaska highway and headed north. We ran into some nasty weather...
Still beautiful though...
We saw a moose crossing the highway...
We crossed the Sikanni Chief River...
I believe this is a work camp at Prophet River...not too terribly attractive...lots of oil and gas wells, pipelines and compressor stations in this part of BC...
We decided to stop for the night at a large dirt turnout about 34 kms/22 miles south of Fort Nelson. We were joined by a number of other overnighters. The sun even tried peaking out for a bit after a major downpour as we were setting up...
Tomorrow we plan on continuing on into Fort Nelson, picking up a few things at the grocery store, taking in the museum, and then continuing onto Muncho Lake Provincial Park.
Well, you made to the Alaskan Highway:o)) Sure is beautiful country!!!
