Sunday morning everyone met at our place...we're going out on the trails today! The sky was blue...the sun was shining...it's going to be a great day! Nine quads/side-by-sides would be on the ride today...Earl, Eric, Steve and I on our quads and Red/Pam, Jim/Barb, Dale/Chloe, Sammy/Donna, Rick/Tim in side-by-sides. With Earl in the lead, it was shortly after 10:00 when we headed off.
Our first stop was at the petroglyphs on Tyson Wash... (reminder: click on pictures to enlarge)
And then up top to see the ancient Indian grinding holes...
Then we're off again...
Next stop was at Erdman Mine...
Red feeling right at home...LOL...
A stop...at Yum-Yum Mine where some of the guys ventured inside quite a ways...
...and we are on our way...
Dynamite Magazine...
Up we go....
Here comes tail gunner Eric...
Arriving at Deere Run Resort...
And lunch!
Red "hamming it up" again!
Time to go...
I think this is Swansea Cabin from the late 1800'S where there was a copper mine...and a group photo. Left to right...Eric, Sammy, Chloe, Dale, Donna, me, Steve, Pam, Red, Rick, Tim and Earl (Jim and Barb had parted the group a little earlier to do a little geocaching)
Now we have to give a special mention to Chloe and Dale. Many of us are members of RVillage and when they found out we had to fly out of Phoenix for Steve's dad's funeral they offered to store our rig and drive us to the airport. How cool is that! We had never met or spoken to one another. RVer's are the greatest!
We got home at about 3:00...another great day out on the four-wheelers! Thanks for leading, Earl! After getting our stuff put away, I had a shower and then it was time to relax in the late afternoon sunshine. Harry and Vicki came over and joined us for happy hour. We even had shorts on, it was so warm out...well, that is until the sun got just a little too low and it cooled off, then it was time for jeans and jackets.
We had a spectacular sunrise Monday morning! A beautiful way to start off the day!
At about 10:30 we headed out on the quads with Jim and Barb geocaching. We headed down Old Yuma road towards a string of caches hidden by Bob and Sue...and then continued on picking up a bunch left by the SKP group.
Not sure what dug all these holes around the base of this tree...
By mid afternoon we had collected somewhere in the neighbourhood of 44 geocaches...next on my agenda is to record them all on geocaching.com.
On our way home we stopped by the Monaco group to see if Alan and Cec were still here. They were scheduled to leave today but were hoping to change an appointment so they could extend their stay by a few days.
They had...so we had a short visit with them along with Rob and Joyce (another couple we met on our Alaska trip) who had just arrived.
When we got home, we got cleaned up and went over to visit Red and Pam. We were joined by another couple that had come in from the Grand Design Rally they had attended over at the Road Runner BLM. At about 6:00, we called it an evening and headed home for dinner...and an evening in front of the TV.
Another great atv adventure!!.. We miss those happy hours!!
