Wednesday, March 4, 2015 (Travel to Midland LTVA, Blythe, CA)

After our usual start to the day, we got our butts in gear, packed up and were back on the road heading north at about 9:30. It was an absolutely gorgeous day but it was windy!

American Girl Mine Road...with the Imperial Sand Dunes in the distance. This gravel road is much smoother than a lot of paved roads we've been on. Apparently the mine is active again so it's well maintained...

More boondocking areas along Ogilby Road past American Girl Mine Road...
Ogilby Road (SR 34) meets up with Hwy 78. It's a very scenic route...

The greenery seems so out of place...

There is so much salt or calcium (not sure which) in this area next to the Cibola Wildlife Refuge that it looks like snow...
One of the many canals in this area...

We went to Miller Park to fill up with fresh water and then continued north on Lovekin Road...that turns into Midland Road...

We arrived at Midland LTVA around noon and took our spot on the wash next to Dennis and Charlene's motorhome. They have been in Palm Springs for the past six days while Dennis underwent open heart surgery, a triple bypass. A couple of weeks ago they had hand waxed their coach and all was fine, however a couple of days later Dennis was having pain in his left arm every time he went for a walk. Just goes to show you that you never know what curve balls life is going to throw at you! They will be home this afternoon...we're looking forward to seeing them!

We just love the mountains here...the views are spectacular!

Charlene and Dennis arrived home mid-afternoon and after big hugs, we left them to unpack and get settled back home. Dennis was looking pretty good considering what he went through just 6 days ago! We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the sunshine...and out of the wind.

Since we didn't think that Charlene would feel much like cooking after their drive home, I cooked dinner for us all...offering to bring it to them, depending on how Dennis felt. As it turned out, they came over and we enjoyed dinner together and had a great time catching up. They called it a night at about 7:30 and walked the short distance home. We wish you the very best for a speedy recovery, Dennis!
