Friday, July 6, 2012 (Sheridan Lake Resort, Lone Butte, BC)

It was beautiful morning as Steve headed out for another morning of fishing.  I had a relaxing morning with my coffee...while working on our blog; I even did a little banking.

Steve was back at around 11:00...”fish-less” today...very discouraging considering he was so looking forward to fishing on this renown lake.  We did find out later that apparently someone caught a 17 pound rainbow...hmmmm...as Steve says, if he didn't see fish jumping, he wouldn't have thought there were fish in the lake. It seems that everyone is having the same luck as Steve. It was a nice calm start to the day but later on the wind really came up.  At least it blew away any remaining clouds.

After lunch, Steve decided to see if he could get the truck out.  After a few days of dry warmer weather, hopefully it has dried out enough.  He first tried going out straight...that was unsuccessful but by trying it on an angle, he made it...

With the truck “free”, we decided to go out and explore the area.  We headed further east on highway 24 to Bridge Lake...and the Provincial Park.  We drove the loop to see if any sites would be large enough for us but decided that the park is too small and rustic with narrow roads and overhanging trees.  We drove down to the boat launch area, parked and walked down to the lake.  There isn’t a beach...not sure if there isn’t one due to high water level or there just isn’t one.

We found a trail that led through the park but it was quite high above the water.  It circled around back to the main camping area and we walked back down to the truck.  Steve took pictures along the way...

There were some kids playing down by the water on a rope swing...

It was quite a steep drop-off to the water...

And back up we go...

After we left the Provincial Park, we continued on down Cottonwood Road to check out Cottonwood RV Park.  The road ran right through it with campsites on both sides...very odd but nice. The owner said he had very few site that would fit a rig our size.

After we finished there, we returned to the highway and went back to the turnoff for Moondance Bay Resort.  It was about 5 kms off the highway and the road followed the lakeshore...beautiful area with lots of houses and cottages...

Moondance Bay Resort is a small resort situated on a large well manicured piece of property.  There are only 28 campsites along with a few cabins.  It was very pretty but also very pricey at $38/night with just water and power; no sewer (just a sani-dump).

We returned to the highway and continued back, passing the turnoff to Sheridan Lake Resort; going another 3 kms to a small community of businesses...there is an Esso station with the Interlakes Market, liquor store and laundromat.  Next to it is a Rona store and then a 'strip-mall' with a few small businesses...cafe, outdoors store, car/truck wash and another store called Country Peddlar which was full of all sorts of nic-naks.  We each had an ice cream cone there...probably the best ice cream I have tasted in a long time!

On our way home, we checked out one final campground...Loon Bay Resort.  It was very nice but although they had some good sized sites, actually getting into them could be difficult.

Some nice looking cabins as well...

It was after 4:00 by the time we got home.  The replacement rope for the boatloader had arrived along with a special tool and instructions on how to make the loop for the clamp.  Steve had to check it all out...

...then it was time to relax in the sun...
