Friday, October 14, 2011 (Travel to Fairmont RV Park, Fairmont Hot Springs, Montana)

The weather forecast for the area today was a 20% chance of precipitation....ha!!  Shortly after leaving River Walk RV Park, as we were heading east on I-90, it started pouring.  It’s just not so nice travelling in the rain...oh well, at least it wasn’t raining when we (or should I say, Steve) were packing up.

Coeur d'Alene Lake...

As we headed into Montana, the weather cleared and we actually saw blue sky...

A semi truck passed us towing another truck...it looked really bizarre in front of us...

As we took the exit to Fairmont RV Park...which is right next door to Fairmont Hot Springs...there was a lot of blue sky and sunshine...

Our poor navigator, Serena...aka, our GPS is very wacky sometimes.  Once we left the Interstate, she had us take a very roundabout way to the RV Park saying we had arrived when we could see it about ½ a mile away.  We could have just continued on the road we were on when we left the highway...it was 2 ½ miles.  Oh well, we made it there anyway.  No problem getting a site...only about a half dozen or so were taken.  Mind you, they were closing for the season this weekend.  As a matter of fact I was afraid that we wouldn’t get a spot for 2 nights...but no problem.
We got all unhitched and I was inside unpacking when Steve, very annoyed, said that the water was turned off.  Well, they had better turn it back on...we are unhitched and totally set up; there is no way we are going to move now.  Well, apparently the fellow that can turn on the water was out for the afternoon playing golf...we’d have to wait until he returned.
The RV park had free Wi-Fi (well, maybe I should say it is included in the nightly cost) so I looked up the satellite co-ordinates for Steve and he set up the dish.  All was going well until he went to turn on the TV in the living room...no picture...hmmm...just what we wanted...sheesh!  So we got the satellite tuned in by using the bedroom TV.  Back out in the living room, Steve double checked all the cables...we then had sound, but no picture.  The screen wasn’t black; it had the usual coloured background with the notice on it saying that there was no signal.  Very odd!  After a day of driving that was the last thing Steve needed...so he just left it...he’ll check further into it tomorrow.
Our water was finally turned on just before 7 pm so we could finally get on with preparing dinner...I was starting to get worried that they had forgotten about us!
After dinner, Steve laid on the bed watching TV while I sat at the kitchen table working on our travel journal.  I really want to try and get it all caught up while we are here.  Tomorrow we are going to drive the 10 miles into Butte and do some shopping.  Our fridge is pretty bare right now!

  1. Glad to see you are back in the states:o))

On our travels out west in 2002, we tried to get to Coeur d'Alene, but got snowed in for 3 days about 150 south. It was June 13th and we were shocked to wake up to 5 inches of snow!! Needless to say, we headed south and never made it to Coeur d'Alene. So thanks for a picture of the Lake!!

    Safe Travels and Happy Trails....
