Monday, February 10, 2020 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Monday is the first of two days that we will be out riding the trails. Larry Olson, from our Cowichan Valley ATV Club back home, started an annual ride a few years ago for any club members that happen to be in the area.

A new day dawns...
Before our ride today, Steve needed to get water, so he got that done before Larry and crew arrived...
I'll pass this onto Steve now...

Last year there were a few more from our club but for today's ride it's just them and ourselves. Even though he and his wife, Judy, stay in Yuma he likes to ride here. They brought a couple of lady friends, Jill and Deb from their resort that like to ride too, so they rented a trailer to haul their 4 wheelers. Allison wasn't going today so Dianne rode with Earl.

Larry and Judy...looks like Larry is summoning the ladies to offload their machines!
Easy does it...
On our way to Dripping Springs...
Waiting for them to make it over a rough spot...
Everyone made it...
Judy and Larry checking out a pool of water at Dripping Springs...
I took a group shot from inside the cave while Larry took one outside. Earl, Deb, Judy and Jill...
Petroglyphs and colourful lichen on a rock...
Somebody defaced this rock by scratching their name on it in 18??
Looking back at the parking area and the trail we have to climb next, just to the right of the mountain...
Our ride leader Earl, Larry, Judy and Deb
Another view of the parking area from the Petroglyph trail...
This one has been shot at and has a slab missing from it...
On our way to Apache Chief Cabin for lunch...

Somebody has removed the panties from the window and replaced them with a mannequin...
Getting ready to head down Teddy Bear Pass. We're now trying to outrun the rain that was predicted...
Down we go...
This gets steep and off camber in one spot...

Some of us got a little wet on our way here. Not everyone had rain gear. Dianne, Earl, Jill, Judy, Larry, Deb, Les and Sue...
A bra laden tree. There must be a lot of ladies in the desert here going commando with the amount of  bras and panties we see in our travels...LOL!
Our final stop was the hill above the cabin for a view of the valley and Mitchel Mine below.
There was a clap of thunder so we didn't stay long, time to get down to lower ground!
The original plan was for a campfire and hot dogs but with the weather we changed our plans and went to Silly Al's Pizza...a local favourite and a perfect end to our day. I had messaged some of the others back at camp earlier if they wanted to join us and a few did.

Dianne, Sue, Les, Harry, Jim, Lynn, Vicki, Judy, Larry, Deb and Jill...
We were shocked when we arrived back at La Posa South. Apparently it had been raining hard with lots of lightening and thunder...
The water was flowing everywhere!
That will help to keep the dust down for tomorrows ride!

  3. Looked like a fun day. We were enduring a couple sick days unfortunately. Good to get together with a crew from home.
