Tuesday, October 10, 2017 (Travel to Border Inn and RV Park, Baker, Nevada)

After a peaceful night (much nicer than last night), we were up and ready to go fairly early. Steve was outside putting things away and was fortunate enough to see a fairground worker and asked him where the sani-dump was. Sanidumps.com indicated it was at the fairgrounds but for the life of us, we couldn't find it. Steve was told it was behind the fairgrounds...you have to go out of the grounds, turn left, make the first left onto Date St, followed by another left onto 4th...and voila, there it is! If we had checked the map on the the website we would have seen it, geez...we're out of practice from sitting so long.

We then took highway 93 south, through Twin Falls...crossing the Snake River. This is an area we'll have to explore next time. Shoshone Falls are a must see.

Approaching Ely, NV...where we took highway 50 east. We had planned on spending a night here at  another casino but decided to carry on as it was still early...

 We stopped at a rest area for lunch...it had a great display about the "Pony Express"...

Conners Pass...Elevation 7722. Another funky thing about our truck is that the fan clutch engages and doesn't shut off at elevations above 4500' give or take, even though it's not running hot. It's an annoyance as it's loud and seems to affect our fuel economy.

Approaching Border Inn and RV Park...and our destination, just outside of Baker, NV. It seemed we could see it in the distance forever...

Border Inn is right on the border with Utah. As a matter of fact, they advertise "sleep in Utah and gamble in Nevada"...the motel is in Utah and the casino, restaurant, gas pumps, store, gift store and RV Park are in Nevada.

It was about 3:00 when we pulled in and went into the store to register...and basically, take any site you'd like. So we took a look and decided on site 1. Not the best RV park we have stayed at but it has free showers and that is what we need right now with our shower stall still leaking.

After getting set up, we relaxed for a bit and then walked over to the casino for a beer and dinner. We also wanted to use their free internet since we can't seem to get it in our rig, which is about 100 feet from the building...sheesh! And it also seems we are out in the middle of nowhere (we witnessed that on our drive here!)...and our Roam Mobility has no cell or data service. Consequently, we both sat catching up on our devices...

We're here for a couple of nights...tomorrow we visit Great Basin National Park.
