Tuesday and Wednesday, March 7 and 8, 2017 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

The forecast this week is for warmer temps...up into the 90's (that's into the 30's Celsius!) But with such a cool, wet winter down here this year, we're not going to complain!

Tuesday, our big chore for the day was to go into town and both get hair cuts at the Quartzsite Beauty Salon. We arrived at noon just as she was finishing up a fellow's haircut...then it was our turn. I went first. I just wanted a trim to lighten the top up a bit and it took her MAX 5 minutes. I am always amazed how much more we women get charged for similar services as men. She cut Steve's hair, taking about 20 minutes or so...and my few minutes in the chair cost more than Steve's cut. Sheesh!(She finds me cute! LOL! Steve)

After that, we made a stop at the local bank so I could get some cash out. I have no idea how much my dentist appointment in Los Algodones is going to cost next week, but I've slowly been accumulating cash to pay for it.

On our way home, we decided to stop at Beer Belly's...we shared a burger and had a couple of brews. It certainly is quieting down in the Tyson Wells area. They close on St. Patrick's Day (opened Halloween), so we might as well get another visit or two in before we leave.

Once home, Steve decided to pump and dump today...then our next dump will be when we leave next Monday. Afterwards, we relaxed in the late afternoon sunshine.

After dinner, we rode our quads down to Jerry and Linda's to join them around the campfire and have some birthday cake...Happy Birthday, Brian (Boone)! A group of them had driven down to Yuma for dinner at the Texas Roadhouse...sounds like they had a good time, but a long way to go for dinner! Unfortunately, took the camera and no pictures were taken....can you believe that! We're slipping!

Wednesday morning we were all ready to go by 10:00...it's time for a final quad ride before washing and loading them back into the truck. Neighbours down the wash, parked next to Brian, are joining us today for a ride to Diablo Pass, one of our favourite rides. Ed and Marge are from Alberta about 150 miles north of Edmonton.

Marge and Ed arriving at the first lookout...
I'm not far behind...
That's me top left. The desert is getting colourful...

Ed had mentioned that he was having issues with his quad. He wasn't getting any voltage output from the stator and he also had some burn't wires. He was told he could hook up a spare 12 volt battery to ride but that only got him an hour into the ride. Bummer! Marge gave him a boost and unfortunately they had to go back. We said that we would go with them but they insisted that with their two quads and jumper cables they would be fine, so we should continue on our final ride. Okay then, if they're not back when we get back at least we know where to look for them.
And away they go...

I think I need a new flag!
Lots of purple flowers...

I'm just a speck in the distance...
Arriving at Dome Basin Mine...

Up I go...
Lunch time!

We were amazed at all the blooms!

That's me waving...
One of the many mine entrances...
There are many more diggings above this mine entrance...

It's hot! Time to get a breeze happening...

Our GPS's showed that we had been up this side road before but we couldn't remember what was up here...

End of the line. Just some old car parts...

We're now getting into some of our favourite parts of this trail...lots of twists and turns and ups and downs!

Water break!

A hollow...

Yee Haw!

You can't tell but I'm puckered up here! Yikes! But no problem!

Saguaro on steroids...
The wash is extremely rough this late in the season so we opted for a little pavement to shorten that part of our journey...
There are a few very nice homes in the area...
After a great 4 hour ride, we made a necessary stop...at Beer Belly's Adult Day Care for a couple of cool ones...
When we got back to La Posa South we were glad to see that Ed and Marge had made it back safely. It took them quite a while, though, he needed a couple of more jump starts and even a tow...Ed says he has some major work to do on his quad when he gets home!

Well...that's it for our quad riding in the Quartzsite area this season; we will be washing and loading them back into the truck in the next day or two.
