Wednesday, March 18, 2015 (Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, Alamo, NV)

After our resistance exercises, showers and breakfast we were expecting to be hunkered down inside all day with the forecast of rain and thunderstorms but that didn't happen. It was cloudy, though, but still warm.

We didn't do much today...after getting the blog updated, I spent the day crocheting. Steve read his magazines and got up-to-date on the forums and blogs he follows. Mid afternoon, we decided to get out for a little exercise, so with camera and binoculars, we walked down to the day-use area. After reading the interpretive signs at the kiosk, we wandered down the trail to the lake and went part way across the levee.

There's our rig way over there...

This is the trail that crosses and goes around the lake...(again, we'll do that another day)...

Great Blue Herons nesting in the tree...
Yucca in bloom...
Yucca plants/Joshua trees...

Back at the trailer, we "resumed position" relaxing outside...such a tough day! Around 5;30 we had a blast of very strong wind that came out of nowhere for a few minutes which made getting our awning in kind of chancy. At first the awning motor didn't have enough strength to over power the wind but luckily we got it in without any damage. Of course, once we did the wind died down as quickly as it started and all was calm.

We found out that there is also a trail from the campground that goes to the Visitors Center...it's 3 miles south by highway but a mile and a half by trail...I think we will get out for a hike tomorrow!
