We woke at 7:00 to, what has become, the usual cloudy foggy morning. After our usual start to the day, we got down to business and did our resistance exercises. By the time we had showered, had breakfast and cleaned up, it was going on 11:00...time to head out and explore Homer.
The view on the other side of the spit as we pulled out of the campground...
Our rig is third from the left...
Turning right, we continued down the spit...
We parked the truck just to the right of Seafarer's Memorial...
...and got out to start wandering around this interesting spot...
A shop called Homer Sapiens...Too funny!
Salty Dawg Saloon...a really cool bar...we'll stop in there a little later...
A good catch of Halibut this morning!
The harbor...
The road is lined with shops and restaurants on both sides. We'll go up one side and back down the other...
The fish market...(very expensive considering we're right at the source! Halibut $20.00 per/lb.)
We checked out the menu at this restaurant...hmmm...pretty expensive...
We walked across the street and down a bit to this "stand of buildings"...
The view back towards Homer...
We walked back down this side, checking out the shops...mostly fishing charter companies...and then decided it was time to go inside the Salty Dawg Saloon. When last counted...there was over $35,000 in dollar bills!
And have a beer...
After one beer, we headed back to the truck to continue our sightseeing. This is Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon, also known as The Fishing Hole...
Barge with his ramp down on the beach...
Once finished on the spit, we drove into Homer and stopped at the visitors center. The lady suggested a scenic drive up behind Homer...spectacular views!
Our campground and rig is on the right...
We finished our sightseeing drive and it was only about 3:00 so Steve suggested we get the laundry done today so that we don't have to worry about it tomorrow. Oh...all right...you know how much I just love going to a Laundromat and doing laundry! He was right, it was good getting it over with!
