It
was the start of another beautiful day...
I
was greeted with Steve singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me...a great start to my
birthday. And it would only get
better...we were going on a nice long ATV ride today.
At
10:00 we headed down to Earl’s where we were all gathering before our ride. There
would be 5 of us on our ride...Bob and Sue; Earl (Alison had a class in town);
and Steve and I. Art still wasn’t feeling
that great, so would not be joining us. It was just before 10:30 when we headed
out. We also managed to do a little
geocaching...more for our benefit since the others have found all of the caches
in the area. Here is Steve with the first find...
And here I am with another one...
We stopped at the ruins of this miners stone house...
And there happened to be a geocache...a bit of a walk back along the road...in the Cholla Cactus on the hill to the left...
While we were stopped here, taking a break, our phone rang...it was Dennis and Suzanne (my brother and sister-in-law)...and again, I was greeted with them singing 'Happy Birthday' to me....awww...so nice, thanks guys!
After our break, we were off again...we had quite a hill to climb...
Bob is almost at the top...
A Pack Rat Nest...
Sue with Bandit and Coco tucked safely in the back of her quad...
Sue took this picture of us...
Lunchtime was at Apache Chief Cabin...
All sorts of goodies inside the cabin...
After lunch, we all climbed the hill to look for another geocache...this one has eluded everyone for a number of years now...and with the five of us all looking, we couldn't find it. It's a microcache so we think that a pack rat may have found it and taken it away...
Then we were off to conquer another hill on our quads...this one was very rough with some big boulders...
What a great view from this spot...
Now it's time to go down...you can see the trail in the distance that we will be taking...
Sue found a 'fish-hook cactus' (I think that is what it is called)...
A memorial along the trail...
And one final geocache find before we get home...
It was 4:30 when we got home. We all had an hour to get cleaned up and then we were going to ride our quads into Quartzsite to Silly Al's for dinner. We decided not to wear our helmets on our ride to town which ended up being a big mistake...because without them, we had no eye protection and the dust was just horrendous...especially with contact lenses we both wear.
Bob, Sue, Earl and Alison, Steve and I rode our quads and met Art and Jan at the restaurant. While we were waiting for our meals to arrive, my phone rang...it was Rob, our son, calling to wish me a Happy Birthday...so nice!
We were just finishing our dinner when the Karaoke started...nope, I'm not going up to sing! But they did have some good singers up...and there was dancing...Alison & Earl and Sue & Bob...
Earl & Alison...
Jan & Art...
Sue & Bob...too funny....
And then the karaoke people came over to the table and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to me...
Such a great day and evening! Thanks everyone for all of the birthday greetings...I had a fabulous day!
